Well my second labour was alot quicker and easier but had to be induced at 40+14 (1st child came 40+3

pooka · 15/08/2009 09:03

DS was a week late whereas dd ( my first) was on time.

But his birth was much quicker and easier.

SoupDragon · 15/08/2009 09:03

Oh yes, absolutely. All my second babies have been born earlier/quicker

DS2 was 2 weeks early and 4 hours shorter I think.

ChasingSquirrels · 15/08/2009 09:03

obviously not ALL, but alot.

If you want ancedotes...
ds1: 37+0 2 hr labour
ds2: 37-0 15 min labour

So true for me.

CaramelisedOnions · 15/08/2009 09:03

Narketta · 15/08/2009 09:04

My first was 11 days early my second was 4 days OD but a lot quicker.

purepurple · 15/08/2009 09:04

Picante · 15/08/2009 09:06

it might have been slightly shorter - we weren't timing!

SoupDragon · 15/08/2009 09:11

CybilLiberty · 15/08/2009 09:25

deepdarkwood · 15/08/2009 09:26

Dd was 4 weeks later (just after her due date) but a very fast, easy labour - I forgot to ask for pain relief

LadyOfTheFlowers · 15/08/2009 09:28

ds1 - 1 week early, 18 hr labour
ds2 - 4 days late, 3hr 45 labour
ds3 - 4 days late, 4hr labour

chimchar · 15/08/2009 09:29

first baby was a horrific, evil, painful, 20 hour labour and 5 days late

second baby was a relaxed, relativly easy 3 hour labour, start to finish (and weighed in at a whopping 10lbs) but was 7 days late.

3rd baby was 14 days late and was halfway between the two at about 9 hours.

good luck when it happens!

IdrisTheDragon · 15/08/2009 09:45

1st baby born 11 days early. Whole thing took about 20 hours from waters breaking to birth.

2nd baby born 4 days late. Whole thing took about 7 hours from first contractions to birth. Overall much more pleasant experience.

BigGobMum · 15/08/2009 09:52

No. dc1 - 2 weeks early; dc2 - 2 weeks late (much shorter labour though).

beautifulgirls · 15/08/2009 10:00

DD#1 12 days late 14hr labour
DD#2 8 days late, 13hr labour

nikki1978 · 15/08/2009 10:00

DC1 - 19 hour labour, 1 week early
DC2 - 2 hour labour, born on due date

EyeballsintheSky · 15/08/2009 10:09

I know we're not supposed to mention inductions but...

I was induced (prostin gel, nothing else) with dd and it was 4 hrs start to finish. Does this count as length of labour IYSWIM? I know the induction kick starts it but does it have any effect on the speed of delivery?

expatinscotland · 15/08/2009 10:09

dd1 - 38+6, 24-hour labour, back to back and she had her hand up cupping her head above the ear. Forceps delivery.

dd2 - 38+2, labour started at around 6.30AM she was born at 10.26AM about 20 mins. after arrival at hospital. Tried G&A, it made me sick, so went drug-free.

ds - 40+1, 10 hour labour. He was over 2lbs. heavier than my former heaviest and had cord wrapped round his neck. Ventouse and 2nd degree tear.
