Sounds a bit simplistic, although I'm sure you have our best interests at heart, and it may be worth looking into.

Can I ask how you made her "very angry"? was this something you had arranged to happen beforehand? it could be argued that making a labouring woman very angry might add to her stress.

I found screaming vocalising helped me cope with the pain when I was in labour with dc2 - until the midwife told me in no uncertain terms to keep the noise down! I can't see this working in a hospital somehow and as houses aren't sound-proof, it would be a bit distressing for others at home too.

I practiced in Hawaii as well. Where did she give birth? We encourage vocalisation...many women find it offers a calming effect and can help move things along.

What kind of strenuous excersise do you recommend for women in labour then? Presumably labour stops during the strenuous excersise because you say that labour can recommence after it....

Well, I had a break during labour when I did a bit of strenuous digging in the hospital garden, after which, a bit of energetic DIY, then I allowed labour to recommence - didn't feel a thing! It's all in the mind ladies!!

Tell you what pete/op, go grow your own vagina and when you have to force something the size of a handbag out of it, instead of pain relief, get someone to upset you. See if it helps.

surely it would be the women delighted by the thought of analgesics/anaesthetics rather than the physicians? why would they be delighted?
And surely strenuous exercise releases adrenalin rather than suppressing it, therefore further inhibiting release of oxytocin?
And women in labour having an experience similar to shitting a bus often feel a bit cross when it is suggested they don't shout.

man thinks woman is being a wuss in labour. Has read a book that says if a woman is angry she won't feel the pain, so he does something to make her angry (dp pushing my hair out of my face slightly wrong did it for me ), she gets angry , baby pops out and therefore it must work?

Yeah it wasn't far off that FG, I think he said something along the lines of "My wife gave birth in Hawaii, and (something like) they didn't listen when I said we didn't need pain relief, so I made my wife really angry and she had an adrenaline rush, squatted down and pushed the baby out, pain free - I'm trying to circulate this knowledge so that pain relief is rendered unnecessary"
