that's odd.
in my midwifery training we have indeed covered the effects of adrenalin on the normal physiology of labour blah blah inhibiting oxytocin blah blah etc etc etc.
we haven't yet done the bit where they suggest we make or labouring women angry to 'discharge the adrenalin'.
I understood the aim to be to minimise the production of adrenalin by making the woman comfortable in her surroundings, creating a safe supportive atmosphere etc etc.
next time i'm with a labouring women i'll try your way and make her angry. perhaps by telling her she's making a big fuss, or by prodding her without asking first, or by giving her partner a sausage roll or a fruitshoot and not offering her any.
I'll get back to you and tell you if it works. That is if she hasn't ripped my head off.
