Basically what the subject says! Just interested to know what other peoples experiences are, and also what time of day did you go into labour?

3.30 in afternoon - waters broke in Mackays!

Not like on tv, just 'oh, did I just wet myself?!' kind of thing

fedup1981 · 17/05/2009 10:51

In bed, around midnight. Nothing dramatic, just contractions getting difficult to sleep through, then I had a show. I was hoping for a big dramatic gush of waters but it didn't happen til the end.

peggotty · 17/05/2009 10:52

at BigTeuchLittleTeuch - a very scottish start to labour, were you sooking on some irn bru at the time?!

dd waters broke as I got up in the morning about 7.30.
ds water broke as I went to bed about 10.30.

DD1: Dh and I were just comming back from a trip to find a new place where to live. |She must have waited to be sure there would be a nice place for her to grow up in (she was 10 days late) It was 10pm (labour start)

DS2: Just at home watching TV (1Opm)

Ds3: woke me up in the middle of the night!(2am)

DD4 : I was walking back from school And panicked a little bit (did not show it to other DCs though). I just had time to go back home and call DH to get me to hospital. He got home soon after, got me to hopital (5min drive) DD4 was born 10 mins after I entered the delivery suit! (5.30pm)

serenity · 17/05/2009 11:04

DS1 and DD - two different labours, but I was woken up at 1.30am by contractions for both.

Ds2 was induced, so no chance to see if he would have fit the pattern too

slushy06 · 17/05/2009 11:16

I woke up at 1pm feeling strange as I got up out of bed there was a big gush of water I woke dp up he tried to go back to sleep at first not realising what I meant. I then hopped in to my mums room and had a second gush.

pavlovthepregnantcat · 17/05/2009 11:17

flamingobingo · 17/05/2009 11:32

Sleeping, in my bed, every time (4!)

Mousey84 · 17/05/2009 11:47

Just getting into bed - wasnt due for 2 weeks but felt need to put a towel on top of the sheet anyway. Climbed into bed, reached over to turn off the lamp and waters broke. It was exactly midnight.

(Got back up, shaved legs, made flask of tea and sandwiches, packed hospital bag, woke my mum who freaked out and cried lots and proceeded to hospital at 10mph cause we were stuck behind a gritter and my mum was in such a panicked state she was too scared to overtake...)

CherryChoc · 17/05/2009 11:56

I was sleeping too - had been having very mild contractions for days (like period pains) so had a hot water bottle, I remember being half asleep and half realising that holding the hot water bottle on my abdomen made the contractions stronger.

feedthegoat · 17/05/2009 12:00

I woke up in the morning at my usual time having contractions.

phdlife · 17/05/2009 12:02

ds - 11pm, in bed, post-nooky
dd - 11pm, in bed, nipple-twiddling

In both cases waters broke with a pop, then a slight lull (17 mins in second case), then straight into fast hard regular contractions.

Meglet · 17/05/2009 12:04

I went into labour at my last ante-natal class. I started feeling achy at about 8pm so didn't take in any of the class after that. I was just sitting there thinking to myself "oh shit", I didn't say anything to dp until we got outside. It didn't start to hurt until midnight though, enough time for an energy boosting portion of chips and can of fat coke .

bronze · 17/05/2009 12:10

ds1- took the dog for a walk at about 4 and starting feeling uncomfortable, got home and realised they were actually contractions.

ds2- been having painful braxton hicks all day. 11pm was in with ds1 comforting him when realised that I couldnt sit still they hurt that much

dd- was in hospital, waters been leaking for weeks had been having odd contractions for week. Waters properly went during the night, contractions kicked in more over next day and night. dd was born 27wks +

ds3- spent day digging over veg patch. spent evening and night trying to convince myself wasnt leaking. Contractions kicked in very quickly mid morning

Monkeyandbooba · 17/05/2009 12:20

DD - mild twinges at 11pm at night in bed, didn't think they were anything until about 4hrs later when i realised they coming regularly and I couldn't lie down.

DS - felt uncomfortable for days and a bit teary, was at home just about to have a sandwich and watch a film with DH. Contraction hit, another 10 mins later then they went back to back and DS was born 2.5hrs later.

Lulumama · 17/05/2009 12:23

with DS i was induced at 39 + 1 ,my waters were broken and i was put on a drip., so within about 30 minutes of that starting i was having contractions every 3 minutes...eeeeeeek!!

with DD, i had a hind water leak just before 40 weeks, went to the hospital, told nothing doing, sent home, stopped off for a kebab with extra chilli sauce, woke up in labour at 7.30 the next morning. went from being sound asleep to awake, out of bed and on hands and knees in about 10 seconds. waters exploded when i was around 6cm on labour ward. MW needed a snorkle!

Lib76 · 17/05/2009 12:24

merryberry · 17/05/2009 16:13

ds1, sulking in bed in hospital
ds2, sulking in bed at home

mumof3tobe · 17/05/2009 16:30

In bed asleep! DS 5.30am and DD 1.30AM.
Both times DH said are you sure?
Wasn't bothered about his responce first time for DS as he's 1st but with DD he said you know we have to wake people don't you (to take care of DS). Like yeah i'm going to wait until a more appropriate hour to give birth!! MEN!!
My MIL coudn't sleep anyway as she had a feeling it was going to happen as she thought I looked uncomfortable the night before so she answered the phone in 2 rings!!

pointydog · 17/05/2009 16:35

sleeping, both times

LovelyRitaMeterMaid · 17/05/2009 16:38

With DS, I was in hospital (suspected and then confirmed pre-eclampsia). Was asleep and had a really vivid dream about two snooker balls crashing into each other. Woke up to waters having broken spectacularly at 6:30am. Not much happened all day and then contractions started properly about 6:45pm. DS born at 2:50am the next day.

With DD, I woke up about 6:30am. By 6:45am realised I was having contractions. By 7:15am they were coming fast and furious. DD was born at 1:26pm

shakerattleandrollover · 17/05/2009 16:39

cs for first child but was woken with a huge "stitch" down one side of my stomach at 4am, for my second.

LittleMonkeysMummy · 17/05/2009 16:59

9 am on a Monday morning in the shower. DD finally arrived just before lunchtime on Wednesday
