If you went over 40 weeks first time, were you overdue second time round too?

Overdue with both

2nd more overdue than 1st

2nd labour probably a bit longer

insertwittynicknameHERE · 04/03/2009 13:43

I too have been wondering the same for this pg.

bumpybecky · 04/03/2009 13:48

yes, yes and more yesses.....

dd1 - 40+11 labour took ages!

dd2 - 40+8 labour faster, only about 2 hours proper labour, best birth of the lot

dd3 - 40+3 (so a week earlier than I was expecting really!) took hours after waters went to get started properly, but proper labour pretty quick

ds = 40+9 again, waters went nothing happened for hours, once it finally got going pretty quick, 50 mins and he beat the midwives

Rosa · 04/03/2009 13:52

40 +3 1st watre broke early put on drip and 1st contraction to birth 2 hrs
38+5 second - whole thing 38 mins - thank god I was prsuaded by mn to go to hosp to have a check as was leaking waters or would never have made it !
everybody is different ..

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 04/03/2009 14:01

ds1 induced at 42+5 - pessary at 9pm, he was born at 4.45am the next day

ds2 born on due date - waters went at 3am, tightenings started about midday, he was born at 5.05pm

GrapefruitMoon · 04/03/2009 14:06

Overdue first time, went into labour on my due date second time, much "easier" and quicker birth, third time went overdue and birth felt similar to first time...

LittleOtik · 04/03/2009 14:09

Yes - 12 days over with DD1

9 days over with DD2

Second labour quicker.

Heated · 04/03/2009 14:10

dc1 overdue by 10 days - took 9 hours

dc2 overdue by 11 days and induced - took 5 hours

40 + 10 with dd1 labour about 3 days!

40 + 13 with dd2 labour about 6 hours.

Olissa · 04/03/2009 21:06

42 + 1 induced and emCS after 22 hours

42 + 4 spontaneous VBAC - still 13 hours established labour but both DS and DD were back-to-back despite my best efforts (grrr)

SweetEm · 04/03/2009 21:46

dd 40+11 - induced and emCS after 26 hours
ds 39 - slow leaking waters, CS next day

mummy2joshuarileyandbump · 04/03/2009 21:51

ds1 40+12 - induced and emCs after 37 hrs
ds2 40+10 - spontaneous after sweep
dc3 i am estimating will be 40+8

PeppermintCream · 04/03/2009 21:56

yes...
Dd 41+6
Ds 41+3
I like to think that they were happy in there...

moomaa · 04/03/2009 21:56

Another yes

ds 40+8
dd 40+11

will be caught out next time if it's on time! 2nd labour much shorter.

Mummyfor3 · 04/03/2009 21:59

Yes!

DS1 42+1 - induced at that point
(DS2 31weeks, CS due to placenta praevia)
DS3 41+5 - brilliant VBAC, in labour a total of 6 hrs

Good luck!!

Salleroo · 05/03/2009 14:01

Better prepare myself for going overdue again so. I was 40 +10. The longest 10 days of my life!!! Still if it happens again, I'll get to sit my exam and then go into labour!!!

ach - this thread has really depressed me. salleroo i was 40 plus 10 last time and induced, can cope with the waiting if it happens again but please not the oxytocin drip.

CaptainKarvol · 05/03/2009 15:02

oh boo, this is depressing me too. 40+7 last time, and I'm at 38+4 now and so, so ready to give birth! Another 2 weeks to go, by the look of things!

tibsy · 05/03/2009 15:13

ds 40+4
dd 40+2
by my reckoning, this one will be bang on the date
and yes, the 2nd labour was quicker

thisisyesterday · 05/03/2009 15:15

ds1- 42+0 18hr labour
ds2- 40+1 6hr labour

electra · 05/03/2009 15:17

No, first time baby born at 40+8, second time baby born at 40+0. My labours were both 12 hours but were very different. Dd2's first stage took longer because she was posterior, but the second stage was 5 minutes (compared with 2.5 hours for dd1's second stage).

dinkystinky · 06/03/2009 11:22

DS1 - induced at 42 weeks, drip etc - 8 hour labour

DS2 - came at 38+ 6 naturally, waters went at 5.30, contractions kicked in at 6.30, baby in arms just over 3 hours later.

Hope it cheers you up Captain Karvol!
