If you went over 40 weeks first time, were you overdue second time round too?

number 1- 40+10
number 2- 40+11
Number 3- 40+13

All spontaneous labours.

Am expecting number 4 to put in an appearance at around 43 weeks at this rate.

Bumblelion · 06/03/2009 11:31

1 = 4 hour labour, 41+2 weeks
2 = 3 hour labour, 39+6 weeks
3 = 4.5 hour labour, 39+5 weeks

First very quick from start to finish, actual labour only 2 hours but started bleeding so needed monitoring. No contractions until 2 hours before delivery.

Second slightly quicker, more intense.

Third, slightly longer, less painful, born after waters were broken.

Doctorskidaddle · 06/03/2009 11:39

1- 40+12 horrible long labour
2- 40+3 very good shorter labour

42weeks + 1 day- induced with pessaries 2x then waters went and got stupid stupid stupid drip posterior 9lb12baby-36hour labour,forceps&ventouse
2nd one-had rough internal at 41wks plus 4 days-started to cramp that afternoon but was ok-waters went the next night (day before i was due to be induced) delivered a 8lb9 baby with no stitches,no pain relief having arrived to the hospital at 8.30 for my induction appt-3 hours all in,not a problem-amazingly different experiences and 13 years apart-think it's a lot to do with mental attitude (certainly was for me anyway)

CaptainKarvol · 09/03/2009 15:36

Now I can come back and tell you:
1st, 40+7, 23 hour labour
2nd, 38+6, 7 hour labour

lizmcfizz · 09/03/2009 23:30

Hurray Captain Karvol - you give me hope. (1st 40+13, long labour)

cookiemonstress · 10/03/2009 21:01

Yes 40+10 first time. 42 weeks second. Induced second time around and had synotocin as part of first labour also when contractions stopped mid way.
2 days labour first time.
2.5 hours second time (contractions started after 2nd lot of gel).

The longer labour was preferable. DD2 shot out, looked like pickled monkey and caused me some permanent damage .

CantSleepWontSleep · 10/03/2009 21:08

Yes. Dd born naturally at 40+6 with 12 hour labour start to finish.

Ds induction started at 40+5, born at 40+9 (he really didn't want to come out!). Labour officially 1 hr 10 mins (4cm - ds born), but only because of the drip.

snickersnack · 10/03/2009 21:12

I too bring good news

Induced at 40+10 with dd (and she was not ready to come out...). 24 hour labour then c-section.

ds arrived at bang on 38 weeks. Less than 12 hours from waters breaking to birth, probably about 8 hours in active labour.

And I was 100% sure of my dates both times.
