had a sweep yesterday and had on/off cons all evening. decided to get some proper sleep and woke up at 5 this morning with contractions again.

so far they are about 40secs long and every 8-10 mins so now i'm up, sitting on my ball and going thru my list of things to get done if this is it.

are they supposed to get worse if you move around etc? that's a good thing right?

positive vibes please!!!

me too ihavenewsockson. so far clinging to tens machine contractions about every 7 mins and 50 odd secs long.....not sure when meant to ring the hospital

warthog · 24/02/2009 06:53

yes - do get worse if you move around but for me eased the pain during a contraction.

i moved around lots and according to my obstetrician, that's what made my births relatively quick.

good luck!

you could ring the hospital now but i suspect they'll tell you to wait until the contractions are closer together. no harm in ringing.

TigerFeet · 24/02/2009 06:57

Oh wow two labours at once!

I think that two every 10 mins is probably a good time to ring.

Good luck!

Mirry71 · 24/02/2009 07:05

thank you!!

ihavenewsockson · 24/02/2009 07:11

hi mirry!
this could be fun...
i'm trying to put off ringing the hospital til the last minute. my friend who is taking care of DS1 is 20 mins away so there will be a short delay between them getting more reg and me getting there anyway.

it's wierd...i was induced with DS1 and went into having minute long contractions every two minutes pretty quickly. 3cms to 8cms in 20 minutes..
every time one stops at the moment and i have 5-10minutes peace i think 'did i imagaine that'

only til the next one comes tho.

is the tens working mirry?

ihavenewsockson · 24/02/2009 07:12

they say one every 5 mins or until you cant cope anymore at home before ringing hosp i think.

Mirry71 · 24/02/2009 07:34

am loving the tens so far.....is working well. how about you?

ihavenewsockson · 24/02/2009 07:40

i didn't get one....so far alot of the pain is in my back, which i expected after last time so i'm strapped up with a hot water bottle adn wheat bag. it's ok til the contractions come.

bit wierd that i can feel the baby moving in between cons.. suppose he's getting squished!

is this yr first?

OP posts:
Mirry71 · 24/02/2009 08:19

How are you getting on Mirry? I loved my TENS (not as much as the G&A but still pretty good)

SnowlightMcKenzie · 24/02/2009 08:46

The newsockon

By all means do what you need to, but personally, if I could type on MN, I wouldn't be going into hospital yet.

SnowlightMcKenzie · 24/02/2009 08:46

Is it your first Mirry?

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 24/02/2009 08:47

Oh good luck ladies. How exciting!

Cervix opening vibes being sent your way.

Mirry71 · 24/02/2009 10:09

thank you - went off for a shower and then trying to reaffix TENS...grr - not so sure about this "reusable" promise on the package
Every five mins now which is good. still not sure whether to ring hosp (altho not planning to go in til every 3 mins)
Just dreading them saying its full and wd rather know sooner than later if have to run round london.
