Having seen loads of friends photos showing them less than an hour after birth and looking amazing I am quite depressed.

So if you (like me) looked awful and your DP dared to take a photo come and share it here.

I didn't look glowing. I looked knackered.

i wouldn't even let DH take my picture - that's how awful i looked! i actually think you look pretty good and about a million times better at BFing than I was an hour after birth!

Hubby arranged DD next to me looking gorgeous and told me to pose - after a 36 hour labour, induction, drips and stitching - I do not look good!

My dh took photos of me with ds2 huggin boht him and our ds1. I was joyous and happy but pretty exhausted - a fact never more keenly observed than when I got home and found dh had posted the photo on facebook so our pals could see our new son - and me in hideous PJs looking totally wiped out! Argh!

I just looked drugged up to the eyeballs in mine - pupils like saucers (I was: I'd had a CS and plenty of morphine, I think)

I remember after the birth of my first, feeling really good after having a shower. I felt so much lighter and could see my feet again. I washed my hair and wanted to look good for all the visitors.

Imagine my horror when I came out of the shower to see myself naked in a full length mirror.

How cruel!

I looked like I had been dragged through a hedge backwards and then runover by a bus. I looked knackered and shocked.

With DD1 I burst the blood vessels in my head from pushing so hard and my lovely mother (not) commented on my acne breakout from the pics, "your skin looks terrible" is what you want to hear when you are proudly cuddling your PFB (whom she described as fat and ginger)

My mum took a photo (and I looked beyond shit) and she decided to send it to everyone in the family. Could have quite happily throttled her because I am very vain normally.

think it was the sedative they gave me when they didn't believe i was in labour adn just wanted me to go to sleep.

then checked and i was 8cm!

i remember being wheeled to the bathroom for my bath afterwards at 8am and the look on the faces of some people visiting was a picture!

i was out of it for the whole day. no photogenic at all.

I looked completely wrecked after my first birth. That;s what 4 days of failed induction and an emergency c-section do for you!

After my 2nd birth (elective c-section) I didn't look too bad. I still wasn't exactly glowing, though. I'd had some preposterous vague idea that I'd do myself up beforehand (brought in my make-up bag to hospital and everything) but when it came down to it I was too busy shitting myself about the spinal to worry about applying my lippie!

You know, for a long time I hated looking at those rough pics of me after giving birth to my first child, but he is about to turn 4 yrs old now, and when I look back at them I am so glad I allowed DH to snap me straight after the birth. It feels very special to have a those memories now, as they do fade as time goes on.

My darling(?) dh took a photo of me and ds1 when he was literally minutes old. I'd been in labour nearly 38 hours, hadn't had a bath or shower in that time because my waters had gone, and it would have meant taking off my tens machine, and had been pushing for an hour and a half, culminating in an episiotomy to get ds1 out.

I look utterly knackered - I can hardly keep my eyes open, and I'm pale and dishevelled, with lank, greasy hair - and I don't look lovely at the best of times, so me looking bad is really BAD!!

I looked white and bloated in the face like those bodies they pull out of the water on crime dramas... nice

DH didn't take photos of me until the next day and after I'd had a chance to shower and wash my hair. I still look awful. That's what grim pregnancies and long labours do to you, I suppose. We were too stressed out to take any photos less than an hour afters - actually those photos would have been of me being sewn up by a cack-handed idiot junior doctor.

I remember thinking (at the time, having just had a shower after DD2 born) that I looked quite slim and ok. So DH took pic of me sitting on the bed with DD1 and DD2.
Oh my god, I look enormous! My boobs are massive, as is my big wobbly tummy and I am as white as a sheet with huge bags under my eyes and terrible hair.
This time (DC3) I will be more careful re: camera angles.

Oh yes and two days later I popped to the chemist leaving the baby with MIL. And the lady in the chemist asked me when the baby was due........she looked very shocked when I told her it was at home asleep! Was mortified .

And when I say careful re:camera angles what I really mean is that he can take pics of the baby but make sure I am not in the frame.....or at least only the top of my head!

I was completely blue, had bad roots, eyes like a glue sniffer and somehow appeared massively fatter than when she was still in there. I was 29 but looked about 45.
No one, and I mean no one, except DH has ever been allowed to see the first photograph of me holding our daughter.

It will be so different this time round. [kids self]

I looked like I had been punched in both eyes - such were the dark/yellow circles round them - and a tad drugged out!

DH even took a video of me bf for the first time (he thought it would be helpful!) - I look huge with big flibby norks .

Oh and hair dreadful When I had first inkling of going into labour I had a shower and washed my hair - after 3 days it was looking like a nasty thing on my head!

What are you talking about OP? You look great. I wish I wasn't so vainhad the guts to show you mine, that would give you something to cry about.

I had burst blood vessels all over my face, chest, eyes and looked spaced out after all the gas and air. Not a good look.

I looked pretty good after DS1, to my perpetual surprise, but after DS2 who was huge and a compound presentation, I looked knackered, obese, pasty-faced, dark rings around eyes, frizzy hair, and totally shite. And that was after a relatively 'easy' 3-hour home water birth. So I have no excuse for looking like something off the Thriller video, unlike some of you ladies!

Next time I am getting a hairdresser and make-up artist over ... (as if)

Mine was on the front page of the local newspaper - 9am the morning after an emergency c-section. DD was the first baby born in the county on New Year's Day. The photographer said, 'Do you want a minute to do your hair?' I did, (natch) nut he clicked and said, 'Only joking!'

I looked awful. Complete strangers were coming up to me inthe street, or servers in shops, to say, 'You were in the Cambrian NEws, weren't you?'

I was actually pretty p***d off that they recognised me!

Funnily enough, I actually look better in the pics after DS1's birth (47.5 hour labour, ventouse, episiotomy) than I do after DS2's planned c-section. This is despite the fact that the day before my section I had been to hairdressers and for a pedicure in anticipation of looking fab from the get go! Clearly I am being paid back for my vanity! (Although, it's pretty hard to look glam with post c-section oxygen tubes up your nose... my mum saw a photo of me with the tubes in and said 'oooh, you look nice dear', which makes me wonder what I normally look like in photos!)
