Having seen loads of friends photos showing them less than an hour after birth and looking amazing I am quite depressed.

So if you (like me) looked awful and your DP dared to take a photo come and share it here.

Mine is on my profile.

I didn't look glowing. I looked knackered.

Didn't give a thought to how I looked after having dd - I had evidently got fed up with my hair in my eyes at some point during my labour and it was greasy (loooong labour) and scraped up into 3 different ponytails, including one particularly stylish fringe ponytail, like some sort of hairy unicorn . I lots so much blood I was a sort of grey colour, but blotchy. Shiny. Wearing a salmon pink hospital gown, splattered with blood. Mmmm mmm I looked GOOD . I did look utterly blissed out, gazing in awe at my teeny, furious little dd though.

After having ds I had an emergency pack of hairbrush, bobbles, beauty flash balm and lip balm before photos. Not sure it made much difference tbh!

Makes me wonder if there's anything at all that can be done to maintain some vestige of grooming for post-birth photos, or whether it's just something to shrug off?? What do you think, ladies??

LaTrucha · 16/02/2009 11:20

Shrug it off. I just kept repeating, 'Yes, it'a a lovely picture of DD, isn't it?'

BoffinMum · 16/02/2009 13:24

No, I have decided I am not giving in this time. I have started by actually bothering to apply moisturiser to my face this morning. Tomorrow I may raise my game by brushing my hair. I have six weeks to go - can it be done???

Ledodgy · 16/02/2009 13:29

I got wise by my third. Painted my nails before labour and the pic is on my profile. The illusion of slight glamour without the reality.

Ledodgy · 16/02/2009 13:34

Though I even look at that one and think 'bloody hell my hands were fat.' I guess you can't win!

MrsSeanBean · 16/02/2009 13:38

I can never share the phoitos. They would have been burned if DS hadn't been in them. I had been throwing up for hours, was discouraged even to drink so felt like shit multiplied about 1000 times, parched, dry, sore lips, green, fat, bloated, fugly, blotchy, sweaty, shiny faced, matted hair sticking up all to one side like it does when I've been in one position a while... in fact imagine all the worst adjectives ever and apply them to me - you wouldn't be far off. I woulnd't.... couldn't.... inflict this it on you.

BoffinMum · 16/02/2009 13:44

Ledodgy, that is a fine manicure. Like a hand model.

SeanBean, anyone would get the idea you felt you didn't look all that attractive ....

MrsSeanBean · 16/02/2009 14:03

My mother also did the circulation of photos thing. When I, aghast, asked whatever people had said, she commented that they had said that I looked.......... "tired". Hmmmph that's one euphemistic way of describing shit ugly.

blueshoes · 16/02/2009 14:44

My SIL who showed off photos of herself and new babe took a shower and put on make up before she allowed herself to be at the other end of the camera lens.

LaTrucha · 16/02/2009 19:29

That's bloody cheating.
