Quick Poll please: How long after a Sweep did you go into labour?

I've only had one sweep with dc2 at 40+5 and although it started more regular contractions it was still 2 days before things got going and even then I was swept again (for luck) on the morning I called the m/w out.

Tbh I think he'd still be there now without the sweep and he's just turned 5!

So, if you had a stretch and sweep how long until you went into labour?

Was norty though and didn't go straight into the hospital as didn't want to be induced

Had sweep about 10am, contractions started later that day, dd2 born 12.02 following day,

So 26 hours till she was born, but only about 4 till contractions started.

Never. Had 3 sweeps and they didn't make a bit of difference. Sorry!

tumtumtetum · 05/02/2009 15:21

Sweep no effect for me either.

Good luck

aquababe · 05/02/2009 15:22

I had to be induced as neither sweep i had worked

sezzlebum · 05/02/2009 19:33

about a week later for me

mrsmaidamess · 05/02/2009 19:35

About...16 hours

ScorpiowithabigS · 05/02/2009 19:36

48 hours - baby 3 hours after that!

mosschops30 · 05/02/2009 19:39

I didnt, had 3 sweeps and was still induced

Olihan · 05/02/2009 19:42

I had 4 sweeps with dd and still had to be induced at 40+14.

DS2 was too high for a sweep at 40+1 but arrived 8 hours later anyway .

muppetgirl · 05/02/2009 19:43

was 41 weeks when I had it done didn't have any effect though I was 2cm dilated apparently. Was still induced 2 days later and ds 1 was born 2 dyas later again so he was 40+11

Sheeta · 05/02/2009 19:58

don't think they'd do a sweep if you weren't at least a few days overdue.

I wouldn't have one again btw

Kagey · 05/02/2009 20:00

One sweep and went into labour 38 hours later - good luck

morocco · 05/02/2009 20:01

about a minute later

(was 4cm dilated so prob already in slow labour)

IdrisTheDragon · 05/02/2009 20:02

Had a sweep at about 1:30 pm when I was 40+3.

Labour started at 6:45 the next morning and DD was born at 40+4

clayre · 05/02/2009 20:09

my ds was born exactly 12 hours after my sweep

shubiedoo · 05/02/2009 21:10

I got the first pains about 24 hours afterwards.

Astarte · 06/02/2009 12:18

Have had a S&S not pleasant, but not painful. 39+3, we'll see what happens. Strong BH atm. I reckon Sunday delivery if it works

I had a sweep at 41 weeks at 10am. Waters broke at 11pm. Labour started after 1am (not sure when exactly as no clock and mw left us on our own) , baby born 3.22am.
