am now 3 days overdue - does everyone get a show before contraction start? I know your waters can break at any time...

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I don't know, but will be watching the thread with interest - I'm due today and haven't had a show yet.

ChopsTheDuck · 24/10/2008 08:59

I only noticed one with dd, don't remember seeing anything with ds or the dts.

backache was my first indicator.

Steala · 24/10/2008 09:06

No. Don't wait for a show if you think you are in labour. I had shows with my first two and expected one with my third. I spent hours thinking it must be a false alarm because I hadn't had one. Luckily I went to hospital to be checked. Lucky, I say, because 9 minutes after I did have the show, my baby was in my arms!

waitingtogivebirth · 24/10/2008 11:34

I am three days overdue too. No show for me yet.

wearymum200 · 24/10/2008 12:14

Never had a show. Waters didn't go till well after labour established either.

FrankenSoph73 · 24/10/2008 12:36

DS1 - waters broke, no contractions, no show.
DS2 - contractions, waters didn't break till labour very well established & no show.

FrankenSoph73 · 24/10/2008 12:38

Sorry, should also have said best of luck to you girlwiththemouseyhair & waitingtogivebirth & hope you don't have to wait much longer

NoMatterWhoIAmJustType · 24/10/2008 12:38

Not at all.

thumblesswitch · 24/10/2008 12:41

I didn't; and was only 3 hours off delivery before my waters broke.

Best of luck, you overdue ladies! My DS was 16 days late (and induced)

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 24/10/2008 14:51

ah good...not that I have any other signs of impending labour, just I suppose at least a show means it'll happen sooner rather than later in theory and I'm just getting jealous of other girls due now who've had theirs!

have such a boring weekend ahead fullof accountancy and tax returns, could do with the baby showing up so I can put it all off!

DD1 no show until contractions were well underway. Coincided with body clearing itself out (TMI?)

DD2 - show at 9pm waters broke 6hrs later.

Good luck!

ilovetochat · 24/10/2008 15:02

i had show when i reached established labour (also as body cleared out) and waters were broken just before dd was born,
good luck

Playdough · 24/10/2008 17:08

DD: no show, no waters breaking, just backache, backache, backache, worse backache, epidural. Whole thing took about 24 hours during which time I didn't feel a single, distinct contraction.

DS: show mid afternoon, six hours later waters broke, two hours later baby arrived.

I have read that one can have a show more than a week or so before labour starts ... Hope all goes well.

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 24/10/2008 17:23

why is the start of labour so drastically different for everyone?! am so bored of symptom spotting!

thanks for the luck everyone - good luck wem and waitingtogivebirth

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 24/10/2008 17:36

i didn't - and waters didn't break til pushing stage!

Mercy · 24/10/2008 17:38

No show with either of mine.

Waters went first in both labours.

Flum · 26/10/2008 18:55

No show with either of mine - praps never noticed?????

DumbledoresGirl · 26/10/2008 18:56

Only had one show in 4 labours.

expatinscotland · 26/10/2008 18:58

never had a show or waters break.

my only indication of labour was regular contractions.

had ARM with DD1 at 8cm and DD2's waters went as she was being born.

MegBusset · 26/10/2008 19:00

I did have a show but not til I'd already been in labour for at least 24 hours (can't remember exactly). I thought it was my waters breaking when it did happen, as it was a big gush... in fact I had to have my waters broken after another 12 hours or so.

findtheriver · 26/10/2008 19:52

Never had a show with either of my VB's

ARM with dc1 at about 8cm, and waters broke at start with dc3

I always wondered what happened to the show - friends of mine who had them said it was a massive great lump of gunk so difficult to miss!

pucca · 26/10/2008 19:53

I got 1 with dd but after my waters had gone (waters went first then pains).

Ds i had a show 6 days before going into labour.

bythepowerofgreyskull · 26/10/2008 19:54

No show with either, waters broke about 15 minutes before baby born.
only indication was contractions and there was no mistaking them

chocbiscuits · 26/10/2008 21:43

Oh crikey its a bit like waiting for a balloon to pop which could happen basically any second for about 3 weeks to a month...

mumofgraceiris · 26/10/2008 22:11
