If you had a c-section did you sign a consent form?

And did a copy make it into your notes (if you've seen them)?

It occurred to me the other day that I have absolutely no recollection of signing a consent form when dd was born, and dh doesn't remember either- and there's no record of it in my notes. I remember giving verbal consent, and I wasn't particularly out of it, though I was pretty tired. I'm not concerned - it was definitely informed consent and I wasn't pressured - but just curious as to whether or not I've forgotten or it didn't happen.

I signed whilst 'bearing down'. They wouldnt wait for the contraction pass. It didnt resemble my signature in any shape or form and I didnt read any of it.

I signed one but was talked through it and asked to sign after 18 hours with gas and air and then an epidural so was pretty out of it and can't remember any of it. I would have thought they should run all pregnant women through the consent form during their ante natal check ups and get it signed "just in case" while things are much less hectic and drug fogged.

I was reading this thread last week, being amused at the descriptions of scribbly signatures.

Little did I know that by Sunday I would be having an emergency section myself, so it turned out to be useful prep for the procedure. As the doctor went through the form, I was reminded of this thread for just a second before it all went blank. Thank you for giving me something good to focus on, besides the overriding fear.
