Hi

I'm 33 weeks and told my babys head is 2/5 nearly 3/5 engaged how far down is that?

Don't want a waterbirth, quite happy to relax in the pool tho but want to be out when it comes to push! i'm pretty open but at this stage i'm determined not to have an epidural even if the pain is really bad [this coming from someone with a low pain threshold]

Did you have any other type of pain relief when you had your waterbirth?

I've only met my midwife once, usually see my DR for checks!

Seen the birthing centre where i want to go and it's lovely and the MW there seem nice!

I want gas & air possibly pethidine but worried about feeling in the clouds and not in control!

R u having waterbirth at home or in hospital?

Do you know the sex of your baby? wot names have you got?

Hi

Still waiting on my results from the hospital but this baby has got 1 foot under each rib cage and feels like she's kicking hard to push herself even further down!

Started to pack my bags last nite but think i'll have to go and buy a couple of bigger ones!

How much further down is it before she becomes fully engaged?

What do you mean fully engaged ?
1/5 is usually in labour.

Gem1355 · 17/02/2005 21:00

If 1/5 meant labour she's only got to come down a little further before labour starts?

Gem - you are 33 weeks.... you have another 5 weeks to go.... try to relax...
I should add that (please check with your MW) if you were to go in a premature labour it is not necessarily because the head was engaged at 33 weeks.

Only reason i ask is because over the last few weeks i've been in and out of hospital with suspected pre-eclampsia, also i'm so fed up with being PG and not feeling like myself!

In all the time i've been PG only met my MW once, other than that been seeing my GP who also happens to be a gyne DR!

OP posts:
pupuce · 17/02/2005 21:20

Why are you not seeing a MW ? And what makes them feel you might have pre-eclampsia?

I should add... do you want to go in labour now ? 33 weeks is really small!!!! If anything aim for at the very least for 36weeks.

Gem1355 · 17/02/2005 21:25

I've only met my MW once and that's because i can never get hold of her to make an appointment, also that alternate at my surgery.

Dr has suspected it because of swollen legs and ankles, protein x2 and blood in urine sample each time, headache and slightly elevated BP this week.

Sent of bloods to the hospital just waiting for results, been told to keep my feet up and rest!
If only i could

Just can't wait for it to be here!

Again 33 weeks is guaranteed Special care Baby unit... that is NOT nice for babe or mom... I know you're fed up but try to see it more positively ? Hav eyou tried relaxation tapes? There are some out there that get you to really spend time relaxing (which is great for BP) and get you in touch with your baby

misdee · 17/02/2005 21:28

you really dont want this baby to arrive now gem, as mieow said the other day. try to relax.

Gem1355 · 17/02/2005 21:30

Where can you get relaxation tapes from?

Also it's finding the time to sit and listen to them, i've got so much to do and so little time to do it in

I think it's hormones as had an arguement with daddy today and it's just out me in a bad mood.

I know this lady personally and I know several people on Mumsnet have bought her tapes/CDs and liked them - before I recommended her.

Why are you so busy ? That can't be good with a high BP! How are you going to do it when baby comes ?
