Wondering how likely it will be that I'll need to phone around friends in the middle of the night when I go to MLBU...

Dd1 - started at argound 7pm, went to hospital around 9pm.
Dd2 was elcs so not quite the same!

SquonkTheBeerGuru · 29/04/2008 20:15

1st labour started in 1994
second labour started in 2003

Don't suppose that helps much though

SquonkTheBeerGuru · 29/04/2008 20:15

seriously, labour 1 - evening, managed to wait till morning at home

labour 2 - morning, managed to wait till evening at home.

FoghornLeghorn · 29/04/2008 20:15

With both of my DD's my waters broke at 40+5 and I gave birth 40+6. Water broke in the early hours with DD1 and erly evening with DD2 so we were pretty able to pre-empt things.

When are you due ?

2Happy · 29/04/2008 20:16

Both evening - but was in hospital already both times.

Disenchanted · 29/04/2008 20:18

2am 1st time, already in hospital, was induction.

9pm 2nd time .. homebirth.

PearTart · 29/04/2008 20:30

LOL Squonk!
I'm due in June but no family to call to look after DD1. Her birth was fast so hoping that it'll be in daytime and not have to phone friends at 3am... (She was born 2.30 am)

1st: waters 10pm, 1st contraction 10.30pm, born 00.36am
2nd: waters 11.30pm, 1st contraction 11.45pm, born 11.50pm at latest (based on subsequent 999 call)

ChasingSquirrels · 29/04/2008 20:55

11.59pm that should say.

FoghornLeghorn · 29/04/2008 21:27

OMG Chasingsquirells

MillieMummy · 29/04/2008 21:31

Both my DC's had perfect timing: I wanted a good night sleep before labour started and that's what I got.

DD: 6.02am
DS: 9.45am (and waited for Auntie to get back from hol's so she could pick DD up from nursery)

emj23 · 29/04/2008 21:33

DS - 8.37 PM
DD - 4.39 AM

I didn't want to have to spend the night in hospital but of course the way it worked out, I had to both times.

PearTart · 29/04/2008 21:36

Chasing Squirrels- that's scary.
Millie Mummy- sounds ideal- would like to be able to drop DD off with friends in daylight hours and then DH could pick her up later while I recover...

PS realise crap wording of title( meant to ask: What time of day?) but thanks all for interpreting me correctly!

FoghornLeghorn · 29/04/2008 21:37

Mine both had terrible timing, laboured throughout the night on both occasions. DD1 born at 8.55am, DD2 born at 10.32am

Thomcat · 29/04/2008 21:38

DD1 - contractions started 10pm ish
DD2 - contractions started 2am ish
DD3 - contractions started middayish

PearTart · 29/04/2008 21:40

My main worry is about having to ask people to babysit in the night. I've got no family and DH's live in Australia...

DD1 - waters went 6pm, contractions, 11pm, born 3.22am

DD2 - first contraction 1.30am, born 4am

DD3 (due July) - first contraction 9pm, born 9.45pm

PearTart · 29/04/2008 21:45

Hatrick- how did you manage that???
Sweetkitty- my eyes are watering for you!
My first was 5 1/2 hours start to finish so I'll be ready with hosp bag for no 2.

lol - in your dreams sweetkitty

BigBadMouse · 29/04/2008 21:52

peartart really feel for you with this one - we are in the same position - DC3 due offcially in 2.5 weeks and we are trying to work out the same thing as you.

tbh I'm not sure there is a pattern and I have long labours anyway 32 and 16 hours established.

DD1 and 2 had the same sleep wake pattern in bump form and labour started up 2am for both of them (just after they were at their most active) DC3 is the same - very active up until 2am so maybe we'll have the same thing this time.

Looks like I'm going to have DC3 without a birth partner - hope it all works out well for you and your family.

Home birth is out of the question for us - how about you? Just thinking if you go into labour at night and have no DCsitters then homeborth might be best if you are comfortable to do so (sure you have already thought of it though)

sweetkitty · 29/04/2008 21:52

yes chasingsquirrels I can dream, hope it's like just doing a large poo too

hope you get it though! I remember thinking on the 2nd contraction - OMG I can't do this - he was born within the next 10 minutes. I have had worse poos (TMI!!).
