Wondering how likely it will be that I'll need to phone around friends in the middle of the night when I go to MLBU...

Unfortunately when contractions start is no indication of when the little mite will actually appear - my contractions started at 10 am on the Saturday (at least every 6 minutes and at least one minute long), DS was born at 2.32am on the Monday morning.

Sorry, that wasn't terrbly helpful. If it helps, didn't go to hospital until 6pm on the Sunday and did the whole thing just on gas.

First labours can be vverrrrrry loooooonnnng

1st - woke up with mild pain (like period pain) at 4am, went to hospital at 4pm, dd born at 5am
2nd - induced

Alexandersmummy · 29/04/2008 22:18

1st - contractions started 9am born 4.47pm same day

2nd - contractions started about 4am born 8.40am same day, (on the way to hospital in car!)

Have you thought of home birth? What about any neighbours or parents of Dcs friends?

Good luck!!

also nervous about this as trying to arrange childcare for dd and after much serious consideration dh has decided that i will have to either go into labour during the day or wait for my mum to arrive (she is coming over from overseas at 39 weeks, dd was born 39 + 2). if baby comes this weekend there is absolutely no one we can call on with being bank holiday and all our friends being away....

hello chasingsquirrels :-) recognised you from another board due to your unique labour story!! how are you doing my dear? (it's MG btw)

ds1 waters broke 2am but had probably been in labour all day but I just thought I was having lots of braxton hicks and backache {how thick am I}
ds2 tummy felt achey about 1am strong definite contractions about 4am

OK, slept on this and I know what's bothering me. Since losing parents I've had to be self-sufficient. But I know i'll have to ask for help here with DD1. I do have great friends with toddlers DD's age and I'm sure that most would help me out here- even if it all happens at 2am! I would for them. I think I'm also a bit envious/ sad that I don't have parents to come and look after us.

BB Mouse I hope you don't have to do it alone- can you ask friends? I'm happy to go to MLU- it felt like a safety net. But maybe HB if we go for 3rd...

ds didn't - not with some serious prodding and a full dose of syntocin drip!
dd - had show etc first thing in the morning and mild cramps all day, so my mum was here for the day and night when I went in at 3.45am (dd born at 4.30am - woo-hoo!).
