I had my waters broken at 7am on the dot, baby arrived at 6:53pm that evening so just under 12 hours. Contractions started pretty much immediately after having my waters broken but not sure if that counts as active labour?

Ballgateblazer · 09/09/2023 19:38

Dc1 12 hours.
Dt 7 hours.

GreenMarigold · 09/09/2023 19:40

Baby 1 - 12 hours from first twinge to birth
Baby 2 - 30 hours. My contractions started in the evening, went through the night and then stopped the moment DD1 woke up. They restarted the second she’d gone to bed!

I think it was my body just putting things on pause so I could attend to my first and for various reasons it would have been really inconvenient had she arrived that day!

BertieBotts · 09/09/2023 19:41

From first twinges

34 hours / 17 hours / 34 hours

If you're only counting active labour ie basically when I got let into the wards

8 hours / 6 hours / 6 hours

I don't know what is wrong with me 😂 I don't seem to fit any normal patterns. Anyway I'm not having any more.

63 hours. Still only 3cm dilated and baby becoming distressed, I had got an infection, so ended in a c section.

I too felt cheated by this. Not just you.

Dc1- 3 painful days from water breaking to being born. Vaginal birth with epidural

Dc2- just under 2 hours from the first contraction waking me up to baby being born and in my arms
I tried to time my contractions and realised there was no break at all in between them and I was using hypnobirthing breathing so I was silent and couldn't speak.
30 minutes drive to hospital and arrived with 10 mins to spare, they initially didn't beleive I was in active labour because it hadn't been long enough apparently 🤷 and I was in so much pain I was silent and concentrating on my breathing.

I was reluctantly examined and was only 4cm, literally 5 minutes later my body was pushing and he was out straight away. Again vaginal birth with no pain relief - didn't have time 🙈

Baby 1 - 34 hours from being induced. 3 hrs pushing which was exhausting!

Bunny2006 · 09/09/2023 20:04

Baby 1 - drip induction, 10 hours contractions started 2-3 every 10 mins but slow dilation, active labour just under 4 of those hours. 28 hours from waters breaking

weegiemum · 09/09/2023 20:07

Baby 1 - 37 hours. Back to back and face up, finally hauled out with a ventouse. She was 4 days early and 9lb12oz!

Baby 2 - 10 hours, first sign was my waters breaking. Thank goodness he was the right way round! He was 10 days early and 9lb3oz so I'm glad he came when he did!!

Baby 3 - induced at 36+6 as I was very unwell in the pregnancy. Was "unfavourable" at 6 am, 1 cm at 1pm and then she was born at 6pm, so 12 hours. Also a good presentation and "only" 7lb15oz! Three more weeks could easily have had her at over 9lb too!

Namechange600 · 09/09/2023 20:08

Baby 1 - 8 hours
baby 2 - 7 hours
baby 3 - 2 hours (30 mins if you read the hospital record! 😳😳)

annlee3817 · 11/09/2023 22:58

DD1 - spontaneous labour, 5hrs 17 mins from start to finish 5-10cm in 90 mins
DD2 - induction, 5 hours from start to finish 3-10cm in 5 mins

Bramblecrumble22 · 13/09/2023 06:00

1-30 hours
,2-5 hours

Chasingsquirrels · 13/09/2023 06:07

1st - 2 hours
2nd - 15 mins

Bells3032 · 13/09/2023 11:20

Waters broke sometime before 7am on sunday at 33+6. Contractions started 3am tuesday, she was born at 659am. so depends when you count labour. if just contractions then it's 4 hours.

Moomoo36 · 13/09/2023 11:25

Baby 1 - induction started at 8pm, contractions by 10pm, baby born at 2am
Baby 2 - 5 hours
Baby 3 - 1 hour 15 minutes
Baby 4 - not born yet but better not be even quicker!

Dogon · 13/09/2023 11:26

Baby 1 - 4 hours.
I went from being totally unaware I'd have a baby that day (11am sitting down to eat fry up in a pub) when waters suddenly broke (I didn't even get to eat my breakfast😅) to baby being born (3pm)!

CurlewKate · 13/09/2023 11:26

Baby 1 -12 hours
Baby 2- 1 hour 45 minutes.

Libmama · 13/09/2023 11:27

Baby 1 - 3.5 hours
Baby 2 - 19 minutes!!!!!!!!!
Baby 3 - 3.5 hours ( but she was a home birth and got stuck so if she hadn’t I imagine she’d have been quicker)

MyInduction · 13/09/2023 11:35

I'm not sure really. I was induced with gels Saturday morning and had uterine hypersimulation Saturday and Sunday. These were super painful. I was on the drip at 2pm Monday and gave birth 8 hours later. So do I count it from the drip?

cheesenpiccle · 13/09/2023 11:57

22 hours

YouBoggleMyMind · 13/09/2023 12:08

DS 26 hours start to finish
DD less than 4 hours start to finish
