How long after passing mucus plug did you give birth?

I know this can vary massively from person to person but I’m lying awake at 5.30am and could do with some company!

Passed mine in a huge chunk about 2.30pm yesterday, and since then have had what I would describe as a mild period cramping sensation and pinchy lower back. I’m 39+2 today.

Would love to hear others’ experiences of losing their plug and how quickly (or not) things got moving after that!

7 hours (second child)

Nursemumma92 · 03/08/2023 08:01

I passed mine at 32 weeks but baby came at 41+2! Never noticed another plug.
With my first baby I also never noticed the plug.
Hopefully it's a sign for you that things are moving along 🤞

I lost mine after contractions had started, and probably 10 -11 hours before delivery. Good luck!

prayforthecottransfer · 03/08/2023 16:27

Baby 1 - lots mine 8 hours into contractions and gave birth 25 hours later.

Baby 2 - no knowledge of me losing it

KnackeredBack · 03/08/2023 16:30

DC1 - didn't notice one, but waters broke 2 weeks early.
DC2 - 2 hours pre birth, in active labour
DC3 - during labour.

Thanks all. Still very much pregnant and waiting here!

Several weeks. Lost it at I think 32 or 33 weeks with firat and baby was born via c section after a failed induction at 42 weeks

Second baby started losing it at 30 odd weeks again. He was also a csection at 39 weeks

NatalieH2220 · 04/08/2023 06:11

Baby 1- didn't notice one
Baby 2 - lost around 7am, baby arrived 2.45pm

NameChangePoP · 04/08/2023 06:14

Baby 1 - about 12 hours
Baby 2 - under 2 hours (was very fast and unexpected!)

It's about keeping active now as much as possible to move things along. Best of luck OP!

yogasaurus · 04/08/2023 06:15

18 hours

No plug second time

Babytwodue · 04/08/2023 07:45

7 days later for me

Jammiedodger12 · 04/08/2023 08:36

Lost around 7am and baby was here at 22.16

DuploTrain · 04/08/2023 08:39

I lost some bits of mine 24 hours before. I thought it was a huge chunk until my waters broke and the rest of it came out and I realised it was just a small part of it.

The amount was impressive and alarming in equal parts (sorry TMI). But I wouldn’t assume you’ve lost the whole thing necessary.

DuploTrain · 04/08/2023 08:39

*necessarily

ImpatienceOfASaint · 04/08/2023 09:31

Ooh interesting! I definitely considered mine a ‘massive glob’ but as you say I have nothing to compare it to. Will report back when baby is here 😂

First baby I passed mine around 11am and contractions started 11pm that night.

second baby I looked for it lots but didn’t ever see the plug before labour and then ECS

Giles1008 · 05/08/2023 09:12

Lost it about 12 hours after a sweep, labour started within 24 hours.

DuploTrain · 05/08/2023 09:17

How are you getting on OP?

ladyvimes · 05/08/2023 09:18

Dd I lost it during labour. Ds I lost it over the space of 3 or 4 weeks before he was born!

Caledoniablue · 05/08/2023 09:19

Lost mine in bits early morning, contractions started that evening.. but baby didn't arrive for another 50 odd hours or so.

Good luck OP hope it's soon for you!

Still pregnant! Had a sweep yesterday and apparently I’m ready to go - 2-3cm dilated and cervix has come down really low. Just need contractions to start. Think baby is just too comfortable in there and doesn’t fancy coming out to this awful weather!

It must be a matter of minutes as I’ve had three babies and never seen my mucous plug!

Cattlepillar · 06/08/2023 06:43

5 hours for me. It came out when my waters broke.

Lovelynames123 · 06/08/2023 06:47

Both times the day after losing it! 37+3 and 38+5

ImpatienceOfASaint · 07/08/2023 01:13

Finally in labour ladies! 3cm dilated - been to the hospital and sent away with morphine to carry on labour at home for a while. Hopefully he will be here tomorrow.
