What time did you go into labour?

Both of mine started in the early hours of the morning and I had a rude awakening! I'm just wondering how common this is. I think it must be nicer for it to start during the day when you're up and about. What do you all think?

I woke up at 3.30am to discover my waters had broken. I wished I had gone to bed before 1.30am - wished that quite hard over the next few weeks as it would've been something I could've reminisced about - a long stretch of sleep! Grin

I was induced at 7pm in the evening on 16th December 2002 and went into early labour at about three in the morning. At 11am it was really bad but 18 hours later dd was born by emergency c-section.
I don't think it matter what time it starts - it still hurts like hell!!

With dd1 I was given a sweep on the Tuesday morning and had niggly contractions from that evening until my waters broke in the early hours of the Sunday morning, she was finally born on the Monday! Not a pleasant experience.

with dd2 I woke up at 4.30am with contractions and she was born at 5.30pm that day. Much better Smile

I think it's very common to go into labour during the night, so I've heard anyway.

Waters broke at 05:30 after mild pain since midnight, dd born next day at 03:15 (long time due to me being too lazy to push in 2nd stage :o)

Waters broke at 3.30am. No contractions until 7, so at least I had a soggy sleep before facing labour.

10 o'clock at night. Dh had leapt out of bed and waddled round the bedroom going "Elliot, Elliot" (doing an impression of ET) as Drew Barrymore was in a film we were watching. I PMSL and half an hour later it all started. And straight into contractions every 3 minutes.... for the next 18 hours.

Waters broke dead on 6 am. Then nothing. Went to hospital to get checked out at lunchtime then went shopping for all the bits I needed that I hadn't prepared for as DS was early. Ignored a few contractions on the way round. Got home about 4.30, contractions started in earnest, DS arrived at 11.15 that evening!!
