39 weeks - fed up

I’ve been leaking a lot today pretty sure it’s urine not my waters, but that’s purely from googling. I’ve had an unsettled tummy the past few days, and the baby has been super active (which is really nice, actually).

The Tena pants are uncomfy, I’m irritable (and permanently ravenous), I’ve got piles, I’m walking around but super tired from it, even though I was walking more last week when I was still working. I can’t sit still for more than about 10 minutes, but as soon as I stand up I want to sit down. Haven’t yet had the urge to do frantic cleaning, but I am very aware that the house is not exactly what I want to bring baby home to. DH is super busy at work - he’s a star when he’s around, but he’s needed in the office for handovers and parental leave prep so it’s just me and my overthinking during the day at the moment.

Rant over. Anyone else want to join?

Contractions are ramping up - got my Tens machine and trying to rest but lying still is agony, so just bouncing on the ball. I’ve had some pain killers but definitely reconsidering my earlier stance on the epidural!

A bit late but congratulations to all of u that already had their babies. I'm 39 weeks tomorrow. I've read in the post that most of u had the sweep at 39 weeks. Honestly I'm so miserable I can't wait for the baby to come out. Why I wasn't offered a sweep? I have to wait until my due date which is 14th February, then have midwife appointment on the 16th where she'll book me for a sweep on the 21st and if that will not do anything I'll be booked for induction on the 26th of February. Does it sound right?

CupidStunt24 · 07/02/2023 06:00

@An1ta - sorry you're feeling so uncomfortable! I am 40 weeks tomorrow now and it's becoming such a SLOG. I had two sweeps last week (39 and 39+2). All they have done is lost me my plug, despite a low, soft favourable cervix and being dilated 2cm. So whilst I completely get where you're coming from, there is also no guarantee it will work if it's too early (or at all). I did ask the midwife why they were offered earlier now as I know before they weren't done before due date, she said the NICE guidelines were updated last year to being offered from 39 weeks as it's possible it will reduce the need for inductions etc. I have seen lots of posts where women are not being offered them until after 40wks though, assuming it's based on which trust you're under. But surely all areas would follow the same guides!? Have you asked if it's possible for a sweep at 39 weeks? For what it's worth, because I had my 38wk appt, and then 2 sweeps in the 39th week, I'm now not being seen again until 41 weeks so my 40wk appt isn't going ahead which seems a bit odd not having that appt on/around due date! I really hope you're not feeling too down in the dumps. It will all be worth it! So I keep telling myself...

Thank you for your response. I guess I could power through as from what u saying we can't force it when the body isn't ready and there's time to spare. I hope yours starts soon 🤗

Just caught up. ❤️ Congratulations!!! Xxxx

A bit of a rant... I lost a plug at 35 weeks and started having irregular contractions that morning. Since then I've been having contractions on and off continuously, I'm 39+3 weeks now... 2 days ago I lost another plug x3 times the amount that I lost at 35 weeks. I've had other "signs" such as loose bowels, nesting, baby dropping, mood swings, ... But so far NOTHING. I'm so fed up of the constant uncomfortable contractions (not just tightenings but strong period-like cramps too) and of all those nights I was so sure "something" was happening to wake up next morning and nothing.... This is my third baby and I can't wait to hold her and go back to routine with my other 2 DC...

What happened in the end? Were you leaking? Did you go to C-section?

QueenOfWeeds · 26/09/2023 16:01

They induced because my swab came back positive for waters, but when I went into labour apparently they hadn’t gone? I don’t actually remember what happened to them - I assume the midwife burst them.

Waters went Tuesday early afternoon, admitted Wednesday, induced Thursday evening, had contractions for about 12 hours, and was pushing for about 45 minutes - baby born on the Friday! So much for “need the baby out quickly in case of infection” !!
