39 weeks - fed up

I’ve been leaking a lot today pretty sure it’s urine not my waters, but that’s purely from googling. I’ve had an unsettled tummy the past few days, and the baby has been super active (which is really nice, actually).

The Tena pants are uncomfy, I’m irritable (and permanently ravenous), I’ve got piles, I’m walking around but super tired from it, even though I was walking more last week when I was still working. I can’t sit still for more than about 10 minutes, but as soon as I stand up I want to sit down. Haven’t yet had the urge to do frantic cleaning, but I am very aware that the house is not exactly what I want to bring baby home to. DH is super busy at work - he’s a star when he’s around, but he’s needed in the office for handovers and parental leave prep so it’s just me and my overthinking during the day at the moment.

Rant over. Anyone else want to join?

Yes! 39 weeks tomorrow. Second baby. Had midwife last week and almost cried at the appointment telling her how uncomfortable I was. The pain in my pubic bone is something else! It hurts SO much in the night when I turn over that I'm then awake for 2 hours as it's woken me right up. She did feel last week and said the head was SO far down and pushing against my pubic bone which is why. Trying to walk lots. I have midwife again tomorrow as she has offered a sweep. Whether or not she will be able to/I'm even ready I don't know but I'm prepared to try! I hate complaining about it as I feel SO lucky to be in the situation of being heavily pregnant, but it's hard work! Nice to vent a little.

CupidStunt24 · 31/01/2023 18:28

Also have bleeding piles and I've just got rid of a bout of thrush so it's all glam over here too! Do you know what you're having?

bakewellbride · 31/01/2023 18:30

With the leaking thing you need to go to hospital to be checked as it's important to be sure.

QueenOfWeeds · 31/01/2023 18:52

Yes, I am so grateful to be in this position, but just want to be comfy and able to relax.

I’m going to see what happens to my leaks overnight, and then will call MAU if still going.

I would phone now OP. If they’ve been leaking you could get an infection which can come on quickly.

QueenOfWeeds · 31/01/2023 22:19

Advice duly noted - I’ve called MAU and I’m going in. Midwife said they can check if it’s fluids or urine, and then we can “make a plan”.

I swear 10pm is this baby’s witching hour! Currently in an Uber being driven by someone who is either the world’s most cautious driver or convinced he is about to shake the baby out of me if he does more than 15mph 😁.

Eeeeee how are you getting on?? Xx

QueenOfWeeds · 31/01/2023 23:22

I’m sitting in a very hot assessment corridor/room, at the back of a very long queue.

DH is at home - took quite a lot of persuading to stay behind, but I asked the midwife on the phone if she thought I needed my labour bag and she said no.

I think it’s going to be a very long (VERY hot) wait.

When my waters went they confirmed with a swab or similar and booked me in for induction 24hr later. So if confirmed I imagine that's what will happen.

Those places are always so warm aren't they!! X

Cuppasoupmonster · 31/01/2023 23:41

Eeek. Hopefully it will be negative and you can go home for a nice long sleep!

RandomMess · 31/01/2023 23:46

Glad you have gone in to be checked out, hopefully seen soon!

QueenOfWeeds · 31/01/2023 23:53

Thanks everyone! And thanks for the encouragement to come in. Yes, they said they would swab.

The people either side of me have been here since 7 😐. Luckily I think the people who came in between them and me were all in active labour, so have jumped the queue (obviously). So hopefully it’s my early evening friends and then me, and then home to bed and to ride out the waiting process.

little update - waters have gone! On my way home now for a sleep (but I think I’m too excited!). Induction offered for 24 hours after they went, so 12 hours or so from now. Suddenly feeling super real!

Can I join? 39 weeks today with second baby. Had sweep yesterday and am 2cm dilated. Going to try and walk all I can today. I have induction booked for tomorrow (2nd) as baby is measuring off the scale big abdomen. Really hoping I go naturally but can’t do much more now.

How exciting your waters have gone! Wishing you all the best for your induction 💐

Cuppasoupmonster · 01/02/2023 03:48

Oh wow! Good thing you went to get checked, keep an eye on your temperature (although I’m sure they told you this). Here’s hoping for some contractions in the morning 🤞🏻

Cuppasoupmonster · 01/02/2023 03:50

@Itsmeitscathyivecomehome I’m 30 weeks with a baby with a biiiiiig tummy although measuring average everywhere else (I’m diabetic), was your last baby the same? Mine wasn’t so this is new to me! Good luck for tomorrow 🤞🏻

QueenOfWeeds · 01/02/2023 03:54

Everyone is welcome - the irritable, the exhausted, and the swollen of feet!

Yes, explained about temperature and offered to book me into the labour ward so I can go there directly, but want to talk to DH first. My nesting instinct hasn’t quite kicked in and the house is a mess 😂. How predictable!

Baby #1 for me, will definitely try to stay active as much as possible tomorrow, and maybe bounce on my ball a bit. My cervix is still pretty closed, so should managed a decent sleep (famous last words!) before the contractions ramp up/kick in. Baby was ultra active on the monitor which was lovely to see.

Cuppasoupmonster · 01/02/2023 03:56

How exciting! Definitely get DH to clean the house unless you fancy doing some floor scrubbing to help things along 😂 hope you manage a few hours sleep!

Itsmeitscathyivecomehome · 01/02/2023 06:52

@Cuppasoupmonster yes my baby also measuring average everywhere else too. No not diabetic, been tested twice, although they suspect insulin resistance due to baby’s tummy. This is all so new to me too….my last baby came spontaneously at 37 weeks, so waiting around feels crazy and sort of dreading induction knowing my body has done it once by itself, but also don’t want to go overdue and end up with an enormous baby 🙈 we’re you diabetic last time too?
thank you for the luck 🍀 x

QueenOfWeeds · 01/02/2023 10:56

Can confirm I still don’t fancy mopping the floor! Have managed to set the robo-mop off though, which is pretty much the same thing. I’m desperately hoping to avoid induction so probably need to get moving.

Hope everyone is having a nice morning.

OP posts:
Cuppasoupmonster · 01/02/2023 12:51

Any news OP?

@Itsmeitscathyivecomehome yes I was diabetic last time too, but for some reason she never measured more than average for pretty much everything. It was a dream pregnancy compared to this one which has been hideous!

QueenOfWeeds · 01/02/2023 15:56

I’m back in, and waiting for the next step. A few stronger twinges, but nothing that I think will really count as a contraction. I assume I’ll know about them when they happen!

Hoping for IV antibiotics and intermittent monitoring which might delay induction a little, in the hope that labour kicks off, but if we get to tomorrow then obviously baby’s safety comes first and it will have to be induction.

OP posts:
Cuppasoupmonster · 01/02/2023 16:05

I think that’s very wise, really hope things kick off for you before then! Otherwise maybe just a pessary will do it!

QueenOfWeeds · 01/02/2023 16:14

They’ve said no to the pessary or gel because they won’t be effective if the waters have gone - it’s straight in for the drip, which scares me a lot. But it’s all for the baby, so I’ll get over that.

OP posts:
QueenOfWeeds · 01/02/2023 16:14

How are you getting on @Itsmeitscathyivecomehome ?
