Braxton hicks or contractions?

febbabies2023 · 04/01/2023 12:52

Wondering what everyone else thought

Last night and today I started getting cramps / uncomfortable feeling in my lower back

Today I've also had some white discharge (doesn't look like bloody show / mucus plug though?)

Also had one or two dizzy spells and some nausea.

I'm only 33+3 so too early to be having the baby but what do we think?

A hot water bottle doesn't seem to ease the uncomfortable feeling, nor does moving

How are you OP? Im 33+3 with so many BH at the mo.

febbabies2023 · 10/01/2023 07:45

@GoT1904 I'm okay thank you! They must be BH and I didn't have them with my first so it's a new experience. Currently 34+2 and getting to the point where I want her out!
How are you feeling?

I'm really feeling like that as well tbh!! If she can just fire out at 37w on the dot that would be great.

I get BH every evening now and keep wondering if I should call maternity assessment but then they just stop. I had 26 in an hour last week! But went up to hosp and my cervix was closed tight, so they're not doing anything. Which is good obviously. But it's insane to have to many.

febbabies2023 · 10/01/2023 13:59

@GoT1904 oh yeah I'm in agreement, if I wake up at 37 weeks and start getting contractions I'll be very happy!
Wow that's crazy, that does seem like an awful lot. I have no idea if having regular BH means you'll go into labour at a reasonable time but I'm hoping for you that you do!

This baby is measuring 'big' too on the 90th centile and at 5'2 I'm really hoping I don't go over 🥲

GoT1904 · 10/01/2023 22:09

Ahhh noooo. I'll be hopefully getting induced due to her size at '38-40' they said, but I'm pinning all of my hopes on 38 hahaha.

How've your BH been? I definitely need to up my water intake I think. I read that lots of BH can make your actual labour easier so I hope that's the case. One push and her being out would be lovely. At a minute past midnight when I turn 37 weeks. A small ask? 😂😂 Xxx

febbabies2023 · 11/01/2023 13:08

@GoT1904 I'm hoping that they call you at midnight when you get to 38 weeks and tell you they're ready for you to come in and have baby!

They've been okay today, quite bad yesterday! She is such a wiggly baby though so the constant movements are almost exhausting and a little painful at times! Seriously hoping she doesn't come late! My first was at 41 weeks exactly 🙃

Hey ladies hope you don't mind me jumping in. I have been floored since lunchtime with horrific period pain. I'm 31 weeks pregnant and I've been getting BH but they haven't been painful, tummy just tightens. Today the period pain is unreal, tummy and back. I feel like I'm due on a horrible heavy period. Do yous get this with your BH and maybe mine have just went up a notch? xx

PritiPatelsMaker · 12/01/2023 20:07

Have you called in to get checked @Stephanie226? I would in those circumstances Flowers

Thanks for replying. No I haven't as I feel like I've been at maternity so much recently as I have been fainting a lot etc and I'm actually embarrassed to phone again 😂😂 thought I would give it to morning and if it hadn't passed then phone. Lots of contradicting info online about cramps etc xx

PritiPatelsMaker · 12/01/2023 20:15

I think any pain is worth getting checked, no matter how many times you e been there Wink

Haha, I know. My first was 13 days late and I just can't bare the thought of that happening again this time. 😂 Though I think because of the excess water I might have a chance of earlier labour by myself. We will see.

How are you doing? My contractions the last few days have been present but much more settled. I wonder if it depends how she's laid. Not a clue. X

Is it still happening? Have you already been checked for the pains?

Mine come like period pains but I did go up at first to find cervix still shut etc. So I'm more relaxed about them now. If they haven't monitored yours yet or checked your cervix I would definitely call up x

Stephanie226 · 12/01/2023 20:38

Yeah it's still happening but I haven't been checked yet. I'm in bed and hoping the rest will calm them down. My BH haven't really been bothering me, tummy just tightens, I don't get pain but I have defo had lots of pain today, people at work said I was also chalk white and looked ill 🤦‍♀️ people are so complimentary 😂 x

febbabies2023 · 13/01/2023 06:25

@Stephanie226 I would definitely get that checked as well! They shouldn't hurt that much if they're BH and definitely better to call and be safe even if you feel annoying! How are you this morning?

Rubbish sleep as always. Still have a pain there but nowhere near as bad as it was yesterday afternoon thankfully. Will keep an eye today and go from there. Thanks for checking in. Hope you ladies are doing ok today x

GoT1904 · 13/01/2023 08:28

Glad they've settled a bit @Stephanie226. Do keep an eye on them tho.

I'm being scanned and seeing the doctor today, so I'm going to mention mine to the consultant. I had quite a few last night and they were painful, but I did go to sleep. I've had a few this morning. I've had loose stools this morning (so sorry for the tmi), so I wonder if that kind of starts mine off. No clue.

33+6 today... Wishing the next few weeks away lol. Hope you're both good this morning. Xx

GoT1904 · 13/01/2023 08:29

Also I'm very grumpy today because I constantly crave extra strong mints and I'm having to have a GTT test today so fasting, which means no mints for me 😂😭

Oh let us know how the scan goes and what they say. Good luck xx

febbabies2023 · 13/01/2023 09:43

Good luck today @GoT1904 let us know how it all goes! I too have had the loose stools, feels like I've almost got a dodgy belly 😂 less BH for me though - currently building the nursery furniture and keeping busy on my day off so not noticing many of my normal symptoms!

@Stephanie226 glad they've slowed but do keep an eye and don't worry about bothering the midwives, it's what they're there for!

Counting down the days left at work now too and hoping I can finally get this nursery done today. I was way more organised with my first 🤦🏽‍♀️😂

GoT1904 · 13/01/2023 21:05

Aww when are you taking your leave @fefebbabies2023 ? I am a student this time but have deferred now until Sept and it's been such a weird experience having absolutely nothing to do. My midwife said to enjoy it, but it's just weird. 😂

My scan today.. baby had jumped from 99th percentile to above 99th. What's crazy is I cannot eat big meals, or I'm sick. I'm definitely not eating too much. But she's just growing away at her own monstrous speed.

Dr said at my next scan (36w) they're gonna book me in for induction at 38w and I'm so happy about it. 😂 She was unconcerned about my pains, just told me to watch for waters or worsening pain.

How've you both been? Xx

Stephanie226 · 13/01/2023 21:08

How did your glucose test go today? I had that on Wednesday, i was so thirsty and so blooming hungry!!! My pains have still been there, keep giving myself a new goalpost so if they are still there tomorrow early afternoon then I'm phoning the hospital x

It was okay. Thankfully I had scan and doctor in-between blood tests so I wasn't just sitting around for hours. I won't know till Monday the results. Dr did say she would probably want to induce before 38w if it's positive, but I think I'd like to wait until 38.

Have you had your results yet?

You're so bad lol. How often are they and what are they like? I'm getting one right now FFS xx

Sickoffamilydrama · 13/01/2023 21:32

I will say I'm Not pregnant and my youngest is 6 but with all of mine I had such strong Braxton Hicks that I ignored actual labour pains because I thought they were Braxton Hicks particularly with my last pregnancy, I had DS in under an hour ...once I realised I was in actual labour, so be warned 😉

febbabies2023 · 13/01/2023 22:35

@GoT1904 glad it all went well! 99th centile, wow! I hope you get your 38 week wish and they don't let you go over! I don't know much about induction, I feel like people always seem to love or hate it so hoping it's a good one for you!
Let us know how the next scan goes!

31st January will be my last day so I have 2 weeks and 2 days left at work now. Not that I'm counting. My normal job is a lot of driving / physical but because of the pregnancy I've been in the office since 27 weeks and I am bored out of my mind!

@Stephanie226 have you been timing them? Or have they got any more intense?

Xx
