Anyone else go over with second baby?

greenerfingers · 26/11/2022 21:10

I really thought I'd go earlier with my second but here I am still pregnant. It's quite depressing as everyone I know went earlier or the same time.

Any second time mums go over the first and if so by how much? I can't bare the idea of being pregnant even an hour longer Sad

I didn't go over, but I had my first at 37 weeks and was told over and over that my second would be the same or sooner. She came at 39+2.

Was also told it would be a quicker labour and it wasn't. Always exceptions to the rule.

18 days over with my second! The waiting is agony

user1467486752 · 27/11/2022 08:42

I think I read that the average is 10 days over

fromcitytocountry · 27/11/2022 08:53

Dc1: due date
Dc2: 40+3

....a baby is never late, nor are they early. They arrive precisely when they mean to 😉

mizu · 27/11/2022 08:57

1st 12 days over
2nd 10 days over

Induced for both. After the 1st induction I said never again but 8 days over for the 2nd I was begging them to induce me!!

Paddingtonsmarmlade · 27/11/2022 09:15

Dc1 40+6
dc2 40+11

sorry

My SPD is so severe @thebloodycatwontstopmeowing I can't even use my birth ball or any of the things I did my first pregnancy. I also was told I'd have. Preemie so since 37 weeks have been on high alert. It's mentally drained me. My first I waited till 40 weeks before even thinking I'd gone over. He came at 39+6. This one I feel like I'm already 3 weeks overdue. I've also been losing my mucus plug for weeks so I'm just on edge all the time. Lastly running after a toddler this heavy has been so hard. I'm royally fed up. After reading all your replies though I've told myself my due date is now the 8th December when I'm set to be induced. I also see my home-birth slipping away everyday that goes past. Gosh I'm such a moanbag Blush

@greenerfingers I'd never had acupuncture in my life before. I booked a last minute session at our local pregnancy yoga place at 6pm on 41+5, labour started two hours later, baby turned up 41+6 at 10am. You're meant to have three sessions spaced apart, but mine clearly just needed a kick up the arse!

DC is also a December baby (10 in just over a week). DC is a natural procrastinator to this day, I figure they just couldn't be bothered, too comfy in there.

Because DC1 was early I already felt overdue by my due date and it was very very hard to reframe it as I went further and further past it.

The only other highlight of that time was having an afternoon off from DC1 and watching Magic Mike, I can recommend that too 😆

Hang in there!

FleasAndKeef · 27/11/2022 13:09

No answers here, but lots of solidarity. 39+5 with a 3.5 year old and slowly losing my mind.

I'm not sure I'll deal well with passing my due date as DC 1 was born at 40+1

MsSquiz · 27/11/2022 13:14

DD1 was born at 39+6, no intervention

DD2 was born at 40+6, after 2 sweeps. I was booked in for induction on the day that my contractions started anyway

greenerfingers · 27/11/2022 16:45

I've book in a second sweep but don't hold out hope. This one seems so comfortable. I decided to stop waiting around for my waters to go and went out of town with my LO two hours away. Wasn't sure whether I'm crazy or not but glad I did as baby doesn't seem any different to before . I'll have to just wear a thick pad all the time as I'm terrified of my waters going in public but I'll take anything right now.

Hope they both come soon @FleasAndKeef. I'm due a day before you!

40+6 with DC1
Due date with DC2
Currently 38 weeks exactly with DC3 and not sure how much longer I can take. I can categorically say this is my LAST baby!!

Loachworks · 27/11/2022 17:12

DC1&2 40+3
DC3 42 weeks. I was to be induced that day but she had other ideas.

Overoptimistix · 28/11/2022 19:12

If you're having a sweep, try having sexual afterwards. I think that's what did it for me! Was two days off being induced.

Overoptimistix · 28/11/2022 19:13

Stupid autocorrect! Sexual 😂

Chronicallymothering · 28/11/2022 19:14

DS1- 40+14 spontaneous labour
dS2- 40+15 induced on day 14

greenerfingers · 28/11/2022 23:47

So I did go over technically but he still came on his dude date. Beautiful baby boy born today and I'm smitten although shattered and scared for the newborn phase again!

Congratulations @greenerfingers!!
It has been scientifically proven that 1 day over a babys due date actually lasts 3 earth months. Both my lads made me wait 9 agonising days and then were both 9lbs!

Having a newborn was massively easier second time around for me, good luck! Dont forget the nipple cream, start applying now! x

JaneJeffer · 29/11/2022 00:11

Congratulations @greenerfingers Flowers

greenerfingers · 29/11/2022 00:53

Thank you ladies! Gosh I don't know how you did it @MaizeBlouse ! Mine always feels longer because I'm always scared about preemies so for them to then get to due date (which is amazing) is always a shocker still.

Sleepyquest · 29/11/2022 01:06

Yay congrats @greenerfingers no need to panic after all. If I had read this thread back in Feb I would have been cursing you 😂

shieldmaiden7 · 29/11/2022 01:15

Massive congratulations!

Bepeaceful · 29/11/2022 01:37

8 days late and c section with first born
9 days late from hospitals due date and forceps with second. (Although only 1 day over MY estimated due date)

Overoptimistix · 29/11/2022 07:40

Congratulations @greenerfingers! Enjoy your snuggly newborn 💐
