I am 39 weeks and have this horrible stitch/kicked in the stomach feeling all down my left side. It's so bad I can't really talk!! This isn't labour surely as it's constant but it is so bad
I am a FTM if wasn't obvious!

There are various things it could be, a few serious. Please call the maternity unit and chat it through.

Borderterrierpuppy · 13/01/2022 23:19

Hospital tonight, constant pain is not normal. Go in and get checked.

nocoolnamesleft · 13/01/2022 23:21

Sounds like you need checking out tonight.

HollowTalk · 13/01/2022 23:22

I agree. I'd go into hospital tonight. Best of luck!

immersivereader · 13/01/2022 23:23

Hospital please

ouchkitten · 13/01/2022 23:30

Thank you all!
I called labour line and they said to take paracetamol and call back in 30 mins

@ouchkitten

Thank you all! I called labour line and they said to take paracetamol and call back in 30 mins
Please ignore this horrible advice. Hospital, now. Your type of pain isn't normal.
Panda8383 · 13/01/2022 23:44

I agree with the other ladies, make sure you get to the hospital just to get checked out, how are you feeling now x

ouchkitten · 13/01/2022 23:46

@Panda8383

Still got the pains badly Sad have taken the paracetamol and got a hot water bottle so will call back in 10 mins. X

I'm surprised by the advice. I'd have thought they would want to see you. It may be nothing, but abruption can present like this, and that's a proper emergency.

ouchkitten · 13/01/2022 23:47

I haven't felt her move either since I called so getting even more worried Sad

ouchkitten · 13/01/2022 23:47

The advice and the midwife made me feel a bit silly for calling actually

whatisheupto · 13/01/2022 23:49

Just go in now please and demand to be checked. Tell them about reduced movements.

Panda8383 · 13/01/2022 23:51

@ouchkitten
They seem to do that like you’re bothering them, well you’re certainly doing the right thing by phoning and don’t take no for an answer x say you’re worried about her movements, hopefully it’s nothing to worry about though xx

Haggisfish3 · 13/01/2022 23:52

Please go in as others have said.

nocoolnamesleft · 13/01/2022 23:52

I am not a midwife/obstetrician. But part of my job is resuscitating babies. And you're making me feel nervous. Far better to risk being thought of as a paranoid mum than risking anything going wrong. Please go in now.

Tippytaps · 13/01/2022 23:54

Another one to say please go in, don’t wait to pack your bags or for more time for the paracetamol. This is urgent. Please go.

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 13/01/2022 23:55

Please phone then back and report the reduced movements, you should get checked out

Greenmarmalade · 13/01/2022 23:56

Don’t allow anyone to make you feel silly. With the nhs you have to be bolshy and loudly advocate for yourself.

Go in.

kijhahej · 13/01/2022 23:56

I had a constant band of pain with my second and they were really concerned (turned out to be nothing luckily.) Please get checked OP.

Overthebow · 13/01/2022 23:57

Please phone back now and say what you’ve said about reduced movements. You need to be seen tonight, it may be nothing serious but needs checking just in case.

NotABeliever · 14/01/2022 00:03

Completely agree with others. Don't take no for an answer! Go in now. At 39 weeks they can deliver the baby safely in no time if there's a problem.
Good luck.

ouchkitten · 14/01/2022 00:17

Taken everyone's advice and I am going to the antenatal ward now.
Covid means no one can come with me unfortunately
