VBAC after 2 c sections, on a small Thai island with some medical facilities- need the MN experience pool!

My sister lives on a small island in the South China sea. The island has two hospitals and is relatively well provided for medically. She could very easily arrange a C section there, but she would rather have a VBAC.

No doctor either in her island or in a natural birthing centre in Bangkok that she went to, is willing to do a natural delivery after 2 c-sections.

She needs information and ammunition and other people's experiences of birthing in Thailand, VBAC after 2 sections either in the UK or not, and anything else you might think she needs to know.

Timing is crucial as if she chooses to return to the UK to attempt a VBAC, she has to travel within the next 2 weeks.

Wow - hope she gets what she wants and that she and baby are well.

Bumrungrad really is a good hosp.

Fingers crossed here. I've often wondered how she was getting on. IIRC last 29th Feb was the highest number of caesareans in Thailand, because so many people had been told it was an auspicious day on which to be born! Hope it works out well for her.

Sending positive vibes, good luck Duchesse's sister

Any news?

duchesse · 01/03/2008 16:05

Have just found out she has had a baby girl. Apparently born at noon local time, weighing 3.3kg. No details yet...

Yay!

duchesse · 02/03/2008 20:07

Serafina

3.3 kg

C section after 20 hours of contractions yielded dilation of 0cm and effacement of 0. Possibly something amiss in my lil sister's pelvis... The baby has strawberry marks on her nose and forehead.

what a stunningly beautiful name! and a good weight

might have been face/brow presentation hence hte marks and ineffective contractions

at least she got to labour, and it was not straight to c.s

she might feel quite raw, or not.. just be there if she is disappointed or upset in any way

laura032004 · 02/03/2008 20:12

Poor girl to have gone through all that, and still had a c/s. Hopefully she will be glad that she gave it a try though. I know that was how I felt when DS2 very nearly ended up as a c/s.

Fab name!

duchesse · 02/03/2008 21:00

Lulu- I thought possibly brow presentation too. She'd better get some cranial osteopathy for the poor little thing I should think. Have been texting each- she sounds quite chipper, and will be in Bangkok for another week as not allowed on a flight with baby under a week old.

Aw, good news. I hope she's recovering well. Remind her how much good all those labour hormones will have done before the CS and little Serafina got to choose her own birthday!

huge congrats to your sis
