Aren't they going to induce you today?

Secondtimemama32 · 07/12/2021 21:17

No, I don't want to be induced medically. Not yet.

I had a friend who went 3 weeks overdue!! She finally went into labour naturally and it went v smoothly (he was fairly hefty though at 9.5lb!) I don’t think there’s anything you can do especially if you don’t want to be induced. Patience is vital as an parent, may as well start now!

escapingthecity · 07/12/2021 21:20

I tried all the old wives' remedies - raspberry leaf tea, pineapple, curry - and went into labour the next day, so they might all be worth a shot

Flockameanie · 07/12/2021 21:25

Sex. I went 14 days over with DC1. In the 13 hours before labour finally started I had sex and walked a lot. Apparently orgasming is important on the sex front. Nipple twiddling too! By that point I probably would have zip-wired across the Thames if I’d thought it would work.

Bunny2607 · 07/12/2021 21:27

I only went over by 3 days with my first baby but i was totally fed up and wanted him out. DP and I did the deed on the Saturday morning and i was in labour by early afternoon. Something in the man’s sperm prepares the cervix for labour I think. So OP only way to get the baby out is the way you got it in 🤣

Doggy style followed by a curry, or something with hot chillies in. A shot of hot sauce might do the trick too

It's not an advised option AT ALL, but castor oil worked for me in your situation. I was bloody desperate. The bloody cow in Holland and Barrett wouldn't sell it to me though so I had to send DH in for it!

Put it in a smoothie to disguise the taste with ice cream, banana and raw cacao at 5 in the afternoon, started having contractions at 10pm, she was born at 8 the following morning, and even managed the home birth I desperately wanted. Can't recommend it enough!

How does it work?

I thought castor oil gave you the shits. Just be patient. Walk. Get a massage - if you want you can pick a masseuse that can show you acupressure points to bring on contractions. I was 2 weeks over both times and had a smooth labour.

MissSmiley · 07/12/2021 23:01

My Labour started naturally on the night of 14 days over with my first, born 5 hours later, maybe tonight's the night??

PieMistee · 07/12/2021 23:05

What worked for me was acupuncture and then blowing balloons as it makes you bear down. And lots of walking and bouncing on a exercise ball.

scrivette · 07/12/2021 23:05

Sex, pineapple, walking lots - best of luck!

shreddednips · 07/12/2021 23:08

Orgasm. I was 14 days overdue and losing my mind, it started my contractions within literally two minutes. I was astonished!

shreddednips · 07/12/2021 23:10

You could also try sniffing clary sage oil, that's meant to get labour going. Or put it in an oil diffuser. It didn't work for me, all it did was really relax my cat. But it might work for you! Good luck OP Thanks

IWasFunBeforeMum · 07/12/2021 23:12

I was 14 days over. Tried 2 pecessaries in hospital. Nothing. Finally had c section on Xmas Eve. Good luck, you'll be fine whatever happens!

I think I've been through two bottles of the stuff in two weeks! Smells lovely but doesn't seem to do much!!

I’ve had sex twice a day for two weeks now. I am doubting that it brings on labour Grin

I feel you on the pressure to induce… and I hope things get moving for you quickly! I feel like I’ve tried everything. Sex, raspberry leaf tea, dates, clary sage oil, exercise ball, walking, nipple stimulation… baby must be really, really comfy.

Ah so frustrating! I don't think anything works - dreading being 15 days. I think it's time to be induced 😔

@Secondtimemama32 I think it works by stimulating the uterus which can bring in contractions, especially if you're about ready to pop anyway! Also stimulates the bowels apparently.

I took it very carefully and had 4 tbsp in my smoothie, was planning another before bed then another in the morning if neither of those worked. 4 tbsp is a pretty low dose, but hey, it worked for me. I didn't get diarrhoea, and wasn't even sick in labour, and.I was disgustingly sick with my first. So I'd say take it carefully, and definitely mix it with strong flavours because it is absolutely disgusting!!!

Good luck, I really hope it works for you and you have your lovely baby in your arms very soon.

If you go for number 3, I was all prepared for a long pregnancy, and she came at 37+3, I hadn't even packed a bag and was running around at 10pm at night grabbing clothes off the washing line after my waters went Grin. I was SO happy she was early lol after number 2!

LaraLou99 · 08/12/2021 17:55

Castor oil!! With an innocent smoothie. Worked an absolute dream for me
