Is this a show? (TMI Warning)

Morning everyone!

I'm 40+4 today and yesterday i had a sweep. All afternoon/evening i was having tightenings across my tummy, as well as brown spotting. By late evening, the tummy tightenings had subsided and the spotting was almost non-existent so i went to bed. I have woken up with no contractions/tightenings/BHs etc. But when i went to the loo, there was quite a bit of brown spotting again and then a further wipe revealed loads of brown mucus. A bit later, after another wee and after jumping on DP, i had another load of mucus but this was brown as well as tinted with pink here and there.

Does this sound like a show? Sorry for the TMI!!!

I've already got a DS but he's 17 now and my waters went with him so i knew i was in labour but this time i feel absolutely clueless!

TIA!

LadyOfWassail · 01/12/2007 12:14

Brown? Have you rung your MW? Mine was yellow and pink/red - I wonder if Brown show is meconium (can't spell).

Coolmama · 01/12/2007 12:15

sounds like a show to me!!

RGPargy · 01/12/2007 12:21

Oh how exciting!!!

LadyofWassail - it cant be meconium (sp?) because my waters haven't broken!

The thread title is cracking me up - how could 'Is this a show?' in Childbirth not be TMI ...

A little herd of tiny bunnies has just run out of my fanjo and started doing the can-can ... is this a show?

NotQuiteCockney · 01/12/2007 12:47

(Good luck, though, here's hoping you're on your way.)

RGPargy · 01/12/2007 12:48

lol NQC. I'm just too polite for my own good. Didn't want to gross anyone out.

OP posts:
Camillathechicken · 01/12/2007 12:51

now, that i;d like to see NQC

re meconium.. if the waters are still intact, tehn the meconium cannot get out, if there is any. a show can be brown if tinged with old blood from a sweep

mucus, snot like clumps, either bloody or clear is a show

lovely

i;m going to hvae my lunch later i think

hope things are not too far off starting!

RGPargy · 01/12/2007 12:53

lol Lulu. Sorry to put you off your lunch! Yay!! Sounds like she'll be making an appearance soon. Just hope it's over the weekend. I have a suspicion it'll be 2nd December. Dunno why. Just a hunch.

Was just about to post that nothing appears to be happening, but now i've got slight tummy ache again and slight backache too. Not sure if it's coz i've been sitting on the sofa for too long or whether it's DUN DUN DUUUUUUUUN something else!

LOVEMYMUM · 01/12/2007 17:38

Hi.

This is my first pregnancy - but it sounds like it may be a show. I'd ring maternity unit and ask what to do next.

Have your waters broken?

(This is the bit i'm dreading, but not in a horrible way - more to do with the excitement of waiting to meet my LO and the fear i'll leak over the floor. Knowing me, I'll tell DH to take me straight to hospital and i'll not go home again until after delivery. Anxious, me, never!

RGPargy · 01/12/2007 17:42

LoveMyMum - no, waters haven't broken and i think it's a bit soon to ring the delivery suite really coz i'm not getting contractions or anything. The MW wont be coming out (home water birth) til i'm getting regular contractions i would have thought so i'll just hang in there and wait for something to happen.
