GoodGollyMissMolly · 21/11/2007 18:10

Hello All,
Well me and baby are home, sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you all.

I went in on sunday and came home on sunday then I went in on monday and again came home on monday, went in on Tuesday morning and was determined not to come home again

I had a baby girl, we have called her Erica May, she was born ay 17.02 and weighd 7lbs and 3 ounces.
She took to the breast right away, and had a really good feed. She slept all night. She is now not latching on, but the hospital have shown me how to hand express, so I am doing that and feeing her with a small syringe.

She is a very sleepy baby and hardly ever cries.

Dh and I are so happy to have finaly met our beloved daughter.

Oh and by the way I was convinced all the way through my pregnancy that she was a boy, so you can imagine the on my face when she finaly came.

Wow - congratulations! Have been wondering what you were up to having read your thread the other day.

(I was convinced I was having a girl (Laura) but ended up with a Matthew!)

GoodGollyMissMolly · 21/11/2007 18:17

Thanks BigLips, it's the only girls name DH and I could agree on.

Ha Buda, just like me, it's weird, I just didn't think or feel that she was a girl. So shocked, I love her so so much though

GoodGollyMissMolly - Big congratulations! You finally did it! So happy for you. Even though the labour doesn't sound very straightforward...being send home couple of times...you finally met your new baby. Yey!
And Im jealous, too. Im still pregnant! 40+5 today.

MaureenMLovesmincepies · 21/11/2007 18:22

What a beautiful name! Congratulations to you all!

GoodGollyMissMolly · 21/11/2007 18:24

Hi Zuzkah,
Yeah it was a bit unexpected, but I'd rather have been at home with no pain relief than at the hospital.

it will happen for you soon, I know how you are feeling though. It goes so slow as well doesn't it, like it's never gonna end.
Let me know how you get on.

zuzkah · 21/11/2007 18:40

GGMM - Are you saying that the actual labour took that long? Contractions and everything? Or did it ease down when at home? And I do understand, being at home is much better than hospital enviroment. Thanks and I'll keep you posted!

lulumama · 21/11/2007 19:50

congratulations

YOHOOOOO baby Erica
Congratulations to you all.
sending lots of love

GoodGollyMissMolly · 22/11/2007 01:42

Hi again,
Thanks to you all for your kind words.

Zuzkah, I was only on active labour for 8 hours. My first contraction was at 6am sunday morning and my last contraction happened just as I was having my epidural put in. For the first 48 hours the contractions were approx 5 to 15 minutes apart, getting stronger and longer as the hours wore on. It took me approx 50 hours to get to 5cm dialated and in to active labour, with the help of a nice walk round the hospital.

Lulu, The birth itself was really qiuck. I had had the epidural as my consultant had wanted me to. Once that had begun to take effect everything was really peaceful.
There were a couple of times that her heart rate slowed down, but other than that no problems (yet)

I was given the epi at 9am tuesday by 3.30pm I was 8cm dialated, just after 4.30 ish I was fully dialated and I started pushing.
Then all hell let loose.

Her heartbeat fell to 45 and did not recover, so an emergency button was pressed, I was put in stirups, the nest thing I know there are 10 (My dad counted) different medical personnel in the room with me!!!!!!!!!

I was cut down there (I dont know the technical term) and then they got some forceps and basically told me to push. I pushed 3 times and out she popped.
She had the cord wrapped round her neck 3 times, but luckily was none the worse for it.

And as you can see the time that i post this, the luttle darling is keeping me up!!!! But I dont care as I'm just so happy she is here, at last.

What a nice post!
Many congratulations.

RGPargy · 22/11/2007 07:48

Congrats, GGMM!!

zuzkah · 22/11/2007 11:36

GGMM - Sounds pretty dramatic to me. Well done girl, you are a brave woman! I guess you never know how your birth is gonna go. However, you'll forget everything bad as you can finaly enjoy your little sunshine. Even though she keeps you awake.
BTW Im still pregnant with no signs of the little one wanting to come out any time soon. Going to hospital tomorrow for a check up and have a reflexology appointment in the afternoon so hopefully things will get moving.

Camillathechicken · 22/11/2007 15:12

glad all came good.... you did so , so well... make sure you rest and take arnica ,will help the healing of the episiotomy ( cut ) .. thanks for posting your story, x

GoodGollyMissMolly · 23/11/2007 10:56

Hi all,
Thanks for your posts.
She is a little beauty, she only woke once last night, we figured out that she wanted feeding but she had drank me dry, so spoke to MW about that yesterday.
I am now producing enough for her and she is feeding approx every 3 to 5 hours now, so she is doing well.

She is a very calm, happy & sleepy baby. Only ever cires when she is hungery.

{grin]
