Sweep and period pains

I had a sweep yesterday afternoon and over 24 hours later I’m still getting period type pains/cramps. Definitely not contractions! How long did these last for for you, before they petered off (assuming it doesn’t kick start labour)

@TwinkleStars15 I can’t believe you’re still pregnant after all of those symptoms! The last few days are so tough. How many weeks are you now?

I went in with reduced movements last week, but then he started kicking the life out of me while in hospital (typical). They offered me an induction then which I declined because he was moving so much. But at my last midwife appointment my bump measurement was 2cm smaller than my last measurement. They’re not able to do growth scans after 40 weeks because baby is too big and they’re too inaccurate so they can’t guarantee he’s ok. Because of that and the episode of reduced movements they recommended an induction which I’m happy to do because I’ll be over 41 weeks then anyway and I just want him here safely

@Melbs6 I’m 39+1 but had my first child at 39+3 so naively thought this one would be earlier, but it’s not looking likely! I’ve lost a bit more plug today, and have a tummy ache, but no tightenings today, yet. Is this your first baby?

@TwinkleStars15 yeah this is my first. My husband and I were both born on our due dates so I was convinced that’s when this baby would come. I’ve heard second babies often come sooner than first babies so hopefully you’ll have him/her very soon 🤞 I’ve been having some cramping today that’s a little more intense that it has been but nothing regular yet

Officially pissed off! First baby came today, and I naively thought this baby would be earlier, but nope! Just lots of pains/cramps and false contractions Sad Turning over in bed is absolutely agony, as is getting on and off the sofa. There’s only so long you can sit on a ball...

@Melbs6 how are you doing?

Oh no @TwinkleStars15 hopefully baby will be here soon! Hopefully all the pains and false contractions are doing something!

I’m in the hospital now, I was admitted yesterday and had the pessary fitted at noon. I’ve had stronger tightenings but nothing like what I imagine contractions to be. The pessary has now been taken out so I’m waiting for a free private room to have my waters broken before I start the drip but the labour ward is so busy there’s no rooms. The midwives have been saying it’s the busiest bank holiday weekend they have ever had so looks like I’ll be waiting a while longer to meet my baby
