2nd baby labour signs

bakingbabyv · 11/07/2019 17:13

36+3 and feel like I'm getting 'labour signs' I know with 2nd baby they can start sooner and last for what seems forever. With my DS I didn't have any signs until I had my sweep at 40+4..

Did anyone have any signs sooner with 2nd baby? Or what were your signs? Xx

Following.
I'm 37+6, had DD at 40+13 so I'm resigned to probably waiting up to 4 weeks Sad

But I have extra, new back pain, uncomfortable tightenings, and (sorry tmi) really loose bowels which I seem to remember is a sign...
But no plug or anything.

I'm so fed up already!

AllFourOfThem · 12/07/2019 11:52

No signs at all until my waters went.

bakingbabyv · 12/07/2019 14:27

@DontBuyANewMumCashmere me too! I've spent a fair bit of time on the toilet 🤦🏽‍♀️ I've started loosing my plug every single day now.

My DS is only 20 months old but I can't for the life of me remember what the lead up was like!

@AllFourOfThem ah dammit xx

Just that my body couldn't go on any more lol. I guess the last weeks I had way more discharge which was probably the mucus plug going. Also I kept getting period like cramps and diarrhea . Other than that not much else apart from contractions starting on day of labour.

thepartysover · 13/07/2019 21:26

Same! @AllFourOfThem

bakingbabyv · 13/07/2019 22:11

@Lizbiz89 I've felt exhausted today 😭 I couldn't even go up the stairs without having to sit down when I got to the top, it killed me off.

Not lost any plug today 👎🏼 but had period pains and bad back ache. I just hate that it's a guessing game. If I was 40+ something I'd deffo think I was in labour with these pains I've had 😂 xx

@bakingbabyv agh I remember in the last few weeks I thought everything was the start of labour! Had my dd at 39 weeks so I assumed my ds would be early as well. Nope, couldn't be more wrong. He came at 40+3. Those last few days felt like weeks as well. He's 3 months now and it feels like years ago already ha ha. Anyway I hope you don't have to wait too much longer to meet your little one 😊.

DontBuyANewMumCashmere · 15/07/2019 16:45

Hi baking how's it going? Any more false signs?! I woke up at 4 this am with really painful abdo cramps and for a minute considered it could be start (again) but not really had anything else since then.
Just regular BHs and a few twinges.

I'M SO FED UP NOW! and I'm only 38+3 Angry AngryGrin

GrapefruitIsGross · 15/07/2019 17:30

Nothing at all until my waters went dramatically changing dc1’s bed at 39+5

I’d literally been on the phone to my MIL the day before saying I was definitely going to be waaay overdue as there were no signs of anything!

Blondiejay24 · 16/07/2019 14:49

I’m waiting for my second to arrive. I’m currently 39+4 and getting fed up. I finished at 36 weeks this time.. Hmm felt like the commute to work (1.5 hours or more) was getting too much. But I am not bored.. I have my toddler to keep me busy though!

Started having some mild period pain off and on for over a week now. Some tightening on the stomach and the occasional loose vowel movement. I had my daughter at 39+6 after my waters broke and they gave me a sweep after to ‘encourage’ things. I hope I won’t be waiting much longer.
I have a sweep booked for Thursday when I will be 39+6 so I hope and pray that will start things. Grin

bakingbabyv · 16/07/2019 16:26

Nothing to report here 😭 apart from the fact I had a really bad fall yesterday. Tried to kick a ball for my dog and my legs went from underneath me. I landed on my coccyx. I am in so much pain I now don't want to go into early labour as I don't think I would be able to do it 😔. Have had to have my mum over to help today, feel so useless.

Fingers crossed for you @Blondiejay24 ❤️ any more signs @DontBuyANewMumCashmere xx

@bakingbabyv thank you 😊 I hope I start getting some proper signs soon instead of wish washy ones.. pfft

Whoopsies · 16/07/2019 18:18

Hi ladies. I'm 37+3 today and don't know if I'm in early labour or this is just how I'm supposed to feel at this stage! With dc1 I was induced at 40 weeks and had had zero signs of anything happening so this is all new to me. I've been having strong, but painless contractions all day along with a dull period type pain. I feel like it's the kind of thing that could come and go, or last for weeks, or lead to labour soon so it's hard to know what's going on!!
@bakingbabyv sorry to hear you fell, that's not nice at this stage. Take care of yourself!!

Blondiejay24 · 18/07/2019 18:58

Anyone having any more labour signs?
I’m 40 weeks tomorrow. Was due for a sweep today but MW said baby wasn’t engaged enough (only 1/5 engaged) however he’s my second and convinced he keeps moving in and out of my pelvis as some days he’s dragging and other days he’s up again. I’ve started getting much more regular cramps today though and a bit of a bloody show. I hope this means that things are moving. I’ve another sweep booked for a weeks time.

Mynotsoperfectlittlefamily · 18/07/2019 20:25

I'm 38 weeks. Constant signs but no luck. Desperate to give birth it's exhausting. Can't sleep, more nausea, more bowel movements (TMI) switching between too loose and constipation because of the iron and ondansetron. Constant pains and been losing my plug/bloody show for days. Her head is so low I can feel it 😭😭 why can't they just make up their minds and come out instead of bouncing up and down testing the route. Good luck ladies!

Blondiejay24 · 19/07/2019 12:36

@Mynotsoperfectlittlefamily same here. Been having contractions for 2 days now. Went in last night and I was 2cm, but still high. They gave me a sweep. Little to no sleep as on off contractions all night. Managed to get a couple of hours this morning as my mum had by daughter. More contractions but very irregular. So not worth going in again.. fed up! 40 weeks today. I am dreading labour. Every time I have a contraction I think fuck me i remember when I had my daughter and I was buckled over in pain. DH is reluctant to keep going in and being sent home.. fair enough but also don’t want to end up in agonising pain at home with no pain relief like the first time.

bakingbabyv · 19/07/2019 12:46

After my fall all my labour signs stopped but I feel I've had heavy pains today. I'm happy for this baby to wait till 40 weeks so I can recover a little better but I can't cope with the on off signs 😭

Blondiejay24 · 19/07/2019 12:48

Maybe you aren’t far off labour. How many weeks are you, 37?
Don’t fret it will work out x

bakingbabyv · 19/07/2019 14:04

Yeah 37+4.... I'm trying to keep active as it's better for my coccyx than sitting but this bump is so bloody heavy 😂. Hope you don't have much longer to wait @Blondiejay24 ❤️

OP posts:
Blondiejay24 · 19/07/2019 15:22

Thank you 😊 they are definitely coming faster now and a bit more intense but I can talk through them. So don’t think it’s time yet.
I can imagine it must kill, I had a lot of back trouble with my first so can sympathise.
Don’t over do it! You never know when you might need the energy.
Good luck! Xx

BigusBumus · 19/07/2019 15:58

With my second it was Christmas Eve lunchtime and i was dishing out sherry and mince pies to family members and it was all quite jolly. Then i thought i might need a poo, so i went off upstairs to do one. Nothing happened, thought i might be constipated maybe? The feeling that there was a poo just sitting there waiting to be pooed out persisted and i kept trying to go several times. Nothing. I didn't know at the time, but that was DS2s head i could feel and he was born at 4 that afternoon!

The first pains came on like period pain and ramped up very very quickly. By the time i got to hospital i was fully dilated and had a water birth within the hour. So 3 hours from Poo-like feeling to baby.

Blondiejay24 · 19/07/2019 16:29

I’m getting that poo feeling! 😂 words I thought I’d never say...

Jokie · 19/07/2019 17:54

This is all really useful! I've had cramping and the poop feeling for a while but no developments and no contractions.

DontBuyANewMumCashmere · 19/07/2019 20:15

Oh sorry about your fall baking hope you're on the mend. With my first slipped stepping out of the shower and slammed down onto my arse at about 38 weeks, I was terrified for days but it didn't appear to do anything and baby was two weeks late Hmm

I'm 39 weeks tomorrow. I'm half hoping to bloody get this baby out, and half hoping it stays in a week or two more, as we still haven't finished the room and have a few more items to buy...

Crossing my fingers for you all. Not long now ladies!

Blondiejay24 · 20/07/2019 02:44

So had my baby late last night, 23.26. Went in at 9.15 still feeling like I could tolerate the pain but was getting worse. At 22.00 ish i was 3/4 cm but then pains got so bad I called the MW. 3 contractions later I needed to push and Dylan Arthur was born within 20/30 mins!
Hope all you ladies waiting, it won’t be much longer for you!
