Lost some mucus plug - how long have I got?

I know, I know, how long is a piece of string!

I’m due a c-section early jan. Will be having a section if baby comes sooner too, so need to rush up hospital when I’m in labour.
I’ve got a lot of water so am at risk of cord prolapse so need to rush to hospital if waters go.

Google tells me I have between hours and a few days.

If you lost your plug how long was it before you were in proper labour?

I lost mine about 2 weeks before, daughter was born 16 days late following induction

PotteringAlong · 24/12/2017 18:43

With dc1 it was about 3 weeks from loosing my plug to being induced. I don’t remember it going with dc2 and with dc3 about 8 days from loosing it to being induced.

I think you’ll still get your turkey Smile

TheQueenOfWands · 24/12/2017 18:44

I was already in labour when my plug fell out.

Was still probably just over 24 hours before DS made his entrance.

EssentialHummus · 24/12/2017 18:44

10 hours here. But labour had already started, to be fair.

NannyOggsKnickers · 24/12/2017 18:44

Mine was about a week between the first bit and labour but I had three sweeps to help me on my way! Xmas Grin

elfieonshelfie · 24/12/2017 18:47

I'd probably be calling the triage just to let them know and see what they say maybe?

JediStoleMyBike · 24/12/2017 18:48

Mine went approx two weeks before I went into labour.

Wigeon · 24/12/2017 18:49

Lost plug on Wednesday, DC1 born Saturday. Don’t remember with DC2! Blush

Lules · 24/12/2017 18:53

About 8 hours. I would ring triage.

chocolateorangeowls · 24/12/2017 19:04

My LO was born 28 hours after I lost my plug. But I lost a lot of it, not just a bit.

Namechanger2735 · 24/12/2017 19:06

It can be quite a while! I wouldn't worry

Monkeypuzzle32 · 24/12/2017 19:08

I lost mine about 5 days before my waters broke and like you I had a lot of water so waited 24 hours after going to hospital but with no progression I had an emergency c section. Had her last Saturday at 39w1

whatisthisi · 24/12/2017 19:09

I lost mine the evening before, went into labour early hours...good luck

TeddyIsaHe · 24/12/2017 19:09

Losing mine was the first sign of labour, dd was born 36 hours later

DomesticAnarchist · 24/12/2017 19:16

Labour started an hour after losing plug with both of mine. But waters didn't go till the start of second stage.

Ring for advice/reassurance

alexpie · 24/12/2017 19:21

I lost mine about 3 weeks before DD1

Chocolate254 · 24/12/2017 19:28

I always loose mine at the start of labour and give birth within 12hours, As your labour sounds like you my need some monitoring you might want to let thwm know. Do you have any pain?

Spam88 · 24/12/2017 19:28

I was already in labour 😬

Are you 37 weeks yet? If not you need to call your midwife.

QuilliamCakespeare · 24/12/2017 19:38

48 hours ish for me both times

CisCucumber · 24/12/2017 19:39

I had 4 hours after losing part of mine

ijustwannadance · 24/12/2017 19:46

I was already in labour too.
Might be best to ring midwife for advice in your case.

BexleyRae · 24/12/2017 19:47

I lost mine in the morning and labour started that afternoon

GlitteryFluff · 24/12/2017 19:51

Thank you everyone.
Have called and they’ve taken details but they’re not too worried, must call back if I get pains or waters go.
Hoping baby can hold on and get past Christmas!

glittery I am in the same situation as you, but my section is later this week.

Lost a bit of my plug over the past few days. Would be suprised if I've lost it all.

Just put all the presents for dc1 under the tree and came to bed thinking "I've just got to make it till lunchtime". No real twinges today, a few Braxton Hicks but baby feels VERY low. Hiccuping at the moment and the hiccups feel like they are in my actual bum...

Legs firmly crossed for us both!! Don't overdo it tomorrow, I hope you aren't cooking and hosting! We are hosting but I've pre warned our guests it's a frozen potato/microwave cabbage lunch and that any guests will be obliged to cook and clean. Grin

sinceyouask · 24/12/2017 22:11

With ds1 I lost it over days and days from 41+4 but still was induced at 42 weeks. With ds2 I lost a bit at 41+2 and he was born the next day. Don't recall losing any before labour with ds3.
