I had a scan yesterday. The baby is breech. now I am panicking that I won't get my VBAC after all.
Better spend the next 9 weeks with my backside in the air then.

Torch up the skirt, peas on your bump

get partner to sing to your fanjo

have fun

lulumama · 17/03/2007 20:43

DON;T PANIC !!!!

there is ECV, moxibustion and pulsatilla to try , and OFP.......

if you can get a copy of Janet Balaskas 'Active'birth', there are some specific exercises to help turn a breech...

tips here !

did you find a doula, BTW ?

lulumama · 17/03/2007 20:44

ok, only me who was panicking then !

Gingerbear · 17/03/2007 20:45

yes lulu, but there is one weekend she cannot cover, so we are trying to find another to cover.

There is still time for the baby to turn, right?

lulumama · 17/03/2007 20:50

those tips have worked for 2 women i know of !!

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 18/03/2007 13:18

Plenty of time for baby to turn yet. Good luck.

muppethasakitten · 18/03/2007 19:06

There is always hope gingerbear - i posted on here a few weeks back for tips to move breech babe... got great tips and tried them all to no avail and was booked in for c-section as too chicken to try it naturally....

.... 2 days b4 section i went in to have a scan as i believed he had just turned in the night whilst i was asleep... no-one believed me - especially as i couldnt say i'd felt any turning - it just suddenly felt different for me...

.... he had turned all by himself! i have since heard similar stories from several women... so do not give up hope!

lulumama · 18/03/2007 19:22

gingerbear....have just realised....A@rse ! and it is a BREECH baby ! LOLOLOL!!

Miaou · 18/03/2007 19:38

Gingerbear, take heart, dd1 was breech and turned less than 24 hours before my section - they only scanned me because I asked them to double check! I got sent home to wait for things to happen naturally And I didn't do anything to assist her to turn either

CorrieDale · 18/03/2007 19:41

Same thing happened to the woman in the next bed to me when I went in for the elective wtih DS. They scanned her and sent her home - she hadn't even felt the baby turn.

Gingerbear · 18/03/2007 21:44

Too subtle for ya lulumama huh?
Have had my bum in the air for half hour sessions at a time (poor dog wondering what on earth I am doing!)

But how can bum in air encourage baby to turn head to fanjo? (confused)

OP posts:
Gingerbear · 18/03/2007 21:45

Good to hear last minute turning stories too.

lulumama · 18/03/2007 21:46

i have packaged up my copy of active birth to send to another doula, but it is worth it for positions to turn a breech

the head is the heaviest and biggest part, so you want the head to gravitate to the top of the uterus, and get the bum out of the pelvis!

going swimming and going down to touch the bottom of the pool can help !

Wallace · 18/03/2007 21:47

My midwife says to do duck dives in a swimming pool

Wallace · 18/03/2007 21:47

lol cross posted

sazjaz · 18/03/2007 21:48

i had my ds turned at 35 weeks . strangest thing iv ever experianced

Gingerbear · 18/03/2007 21:53

Ah, so it needs to get its backside out first before it heads downwards, I see!.
It was only a week ago it was head down, lord knows when it turned. I have felt somersaults today, but still kicks (or maybe punches??) low down, and a hard part on the left (spine?) Oh, I dunno!

Tanya Streeter watch out, I am off to the pool with my snorkel this week.

OP posts:
lulumama · 18/03/2007 21:54

you could try asking the baby to turn...anecdotally, it works !

Gingerbear · 18/03/2007 21:59

I have a copy of active birth on order from library.

OP posts:
hertsnessex · 19/03/2007 12:56

dont panic! it doesnt have to mean the end of your vbac. ther eis still tons of time to try to encourage the baby to move, if not, it doesnt have to mean c/section.

hope bum in the air works, if not look into (as lulu said) pulsatilla, moxi and visualisation. try to clear your head of any worries relating to the birth aswell.
