Anyone go into labour without showing previous symptoms

Im 39+1 and am not yet having any 'symptoms' or tell tale signs that labour might be anywhere near. I dont feel like im due a baby anytime soon either. Dreading the idea of going too far over and having to be induced. Guess I just wanted to see if anyone went into labour around due date even tho they didnt feel any changes.

Yes, me. Woke up one morning and waters went pop, baby born about 4 hours later.
Don't worry, you'll probably have it before going too far overdue & need to be induced, but believe me, by the time you get to the stage where you need to be induced you won't car as much because you'll be sick of being pregnant and just want to get the baby out and meet them!

Sort of, no signs, twinges, nothing. Had a very positive sweep on my due date, 2-3cm dilated and could possibly stretch to 4cm... Spent the next four days being quite grumpy and had my induction booked in for the following week. Then on the 4th day over I had a bloody show, followed by hours of nothing, waters started to go at 1am on the day 5 and my Dd arrived just over 6 hours later :)

I didn't have any symptoms with my second. Just started having contractions every 5 minutes from nowhere. Then 8 hours later a baby!
With my first I had a show, Braxton hicks etc.

I went into labour day before my due date so 39+6 and it started with very light contractions like period pains. Before that it was nothing. I thought I would be overdue like most of my pregnant buddies so I haven't even finished packing my hospital bag. 48 hours later of waiting to move from early labour to an active labour at last, things moved so fast I gave birth in my bedroom (with midwife in attendance - she got there just in time). At 39+1 I was still moving furniture around in a bout of extreme nesting 😁

I had no symptoms at all, woke up with contractions in the early hours the day after my due date, my waters didn't break until I was in hospital at 7pm and I was 7-8cm dilated.

Yes 4 times, I never had a show, waters brake or signs of any sort

I was 39+1 when I had my lo. Had no signs. Finished work at 5pm and waters broke at 5am that night! No bloody show, no cramps, no back ache, no upset tummy.

Also about two days before, I'd had midwife appointment and she felt my stomach and told me that she didn't think I'd have the baby any time soon and that I was likely to go overdue. Shows how much she knew lol!

Ps. Not sure if it kick started it, but dh and I did do the deed about 4 hours before my waters broke!

Rolled over at 41+2, waters broke, vomited everywhere, immediate 2-3 min spaced contractions, baby in arms about 5h later. Not very classy, but efficient (after going nine days over...)!

I woke up on my 4th day overdue and still felt nothing, getting very grumpy. Absolutely no early warning signs for me, straight into fairly painful contractions right away at around 10am. No show until hours into early labour and no waters breaking until a couple of hours before birth.

It's a frustrating time, but you're nearly there :)

I went to bed at midnight, chatting to DH that yet another day had rolled past and no baby. Lay down to settle when -boom!- massive contraction at 00:17, then 00:19, then 00:21 and every two minutes until DS was born at 04:02! There was no build up, the contractions were full on and stayed the same intensity all the way through labour.

I was 11 days overdue and the only thing I had differently that day was eat a carton of pineapple and mango slices at 9pm!

DS1: leaked in the morning, thought it was my bladder going crazy, went about my day, went to my 36 week midwife appointment, midwife sent me to hospital, waters gone confirmed, contractions suddenly started and baby in arms 5 hours later.

DS2: waters broke just after midnight, contractions started on monitor in hospital, baby five hours later

So both times, no real symptoms before... other than waters braking. I never had a braxton hicks contraction in my life.

Yep, nothing before either. Both well overdue.

I don't know which is worse - loads and loads of symptoms but nothing happening, or zero symptoms then KAPOW!

Both scenarios wreck your head.

Remember 'due' is 37-42w. You're not 'overdue' until you go past 42 weeks, and you are permitted to refuse induction if you want to. You can have expectant management instead, where they check the placenta is still functioning and that the baby's heartbeat is OK.

(officially I was 40+17 when my waters broke, which was my first sign of labour, although I was certain of my dates and I was only 40+13)

Obviously I knew I was in labour, but contractions were my first sign, everytime.

With dc1 I thought my failure to have any other symptoms meant I probably wasn't in labour and delivered baby 40 mins after finally heading to hospital.

Me. I was 40+5 and contractions started 5 minutes apart out of the blue. After a very rapid second stage baby was born, less than 6 hours from the first twinge. I was planning on the full works pain relief wise but ended up with a natural labour with no time for pain relief but no tears or stitches.

Yes. Iwas 39+6 I think so pretty much bang on. Meconium show so I went to the hosptial with DH. Started getting period type cramps in the car. DS1 was born 2 and a half hours later. My waters didn't break (they must have done that at the hospital - I can't remember)

Yep! 41+1, midwife had refused to do a sweep twice as baby was barely 1/5 engaged. Went for a walk, had a nap, watched a film, felt the same as any other day. Then finally got off the sofa, waters broke, contractions every 2 minutes from the get-go, baby born 5 hours later! Good luck xx

40+1. Saw midwife at 11am on Thurs, examined and discussed booking me in with consultant for Tues (as they wouldn't want me in over weekend!). Went home for an hour, then boom - full on contractions, admitted onto labour ward by 1pm.

Loving this thread as have loads of "signs" but nowt to show for it! Hoping for something this weekend while DC are away with their GP's....

Day before due date: nothing, never had a Braxton-Hicks. At midnight, had a show and then went to sleep. Middle of the night had period-like cramps, finally realised they were every 15 then 10 min, got up in the morning and had a bath and realised why I was drying myself but not getting dry! Admitted 2 hours later, 5cm.

First signs of labour with both were... going into labour.

No signs before.... Woke up at 6am one morning and my waters went, my son was in my arms three hours later. The day before I'd been moaning about no signs of labour at all...

At 41+2, my waters broke but labour did not start. Doctors wanted to do c-section that day because of the risk of infection. Anyway, I didn't want a c-section and asked them to wait a bit longer. They agreed as long as the baby wasn't showing signs of distress. Anyway, late that night, I went into labor and the baby was born the following morning.
