Anyone else who's having a vbac want to share info, stats, tips, ideas, feelings about it all? Or even just complain, rant, celebrate, share news & updates? It might be nice if there's a few of us out there going through the same thing. I don't know anyone in real life who's had a vbac at all!

Obviously if you've had a vbac and fancy posting stories, tips and encouragement, that would be amazing too!

Thanks. Yeah the 70% is the average stats I believe, but my hospital only has a 47% success rate

Sparrowlegs248 · 31/01/2017 16:31

Anyone had any success yet? 39+5, had a sweep today. Cervix favourable, thinned and 2cm!! Just hllost a tiny bit of plug too.

trilottie · 31/01/2017 16:53

@nottalotta did you get your sweep from the midwife? Wondering about asking mine tomorrow. Fingers crossed for you :-) (nothing here, 39 weeks tomorrow)

Sparrowlegs248 · 31/01/2017 17:05

I did! Last week she said sweep today and then Thursday if nothing happens. Today she said 'oh no, we'll do it thursday' I had got myself geared up for it, and had been feeling like things were moving a bit, not labour, but just felt different, lower, movements making me gasp a bit etc. She said she could still do it but I think she was just doing it to keep me happy. Sounded most surprised when she realised things has started a bit.

She is a mw but it was at the day assessment unit where I go for blood pressure monitoring.

Hello! Late to the party but been watching with interest. I'm 34+2, booked in for elcs at 39+0, but secretly wondering if I'll go into labour spontaneously earlier than that (I feel massive and waddly and have dragging feeling low down if I stand up/walk for too long). I'd love an easy vbac but wonder how often it happens in real life, and really not keen to go through the 5 act opera that was my last childbirth experience! Massive good luck to everyone still going for vbac, please let us know how you get on.
silverfish I hope things are settling down for you. What a horrible experience. Sending you much CakeWineGinFlowers

Hello all, I'm in the same boat too, confusion ahoy! 36+4 today and had consultant appointment this afternoon. Baby is now head down in the right position but not yet engaged. I had emcs last time after failing to progress but getting to 8cm. That makes me a good candidate apparently. I have said I'd like a vbac if I go into labour naturally but I don't want to be induced again. Elsc booked for 40+2

Fabulosososo · 03/02/2017 23:37

Nottalotta that sounds promising! How are you feeling?

No news here really. Baby has been engaged for a few weeks but not have any VEs so not sure if I'm dilated at all. I'll probably have a sweep in a few weeks if things don't start before then so it's just a waiting game. The suspense is killing me tbh!

Anyone else got any news?

Sparrowlegs248 · 04/02/2017 00:19

Hi fab I'm.feeling OK, but bloody restless. So so tired, but got a bit of a cold, and not comfortable, and just......waiting......so can't sleep.

Saw consultant yesterday, another sweep. Easier, so cervix more forward (I think?) and stretchy and 2-3 cm. Losing more plug.

Argh. The waiting!!

Fabulosososo · 04/02/2017 08:58

Nottalotta I saw your other thread about whether to have your waters broken. It does sound like your body is getting ready and so it sounds like there's a good chance it could work (and if not you'd just have your cs anyway so not much to lose really) but it depends whether you want a vbac or elcs. Either way you will have your baby with you very soon!

I also seem to have a cold and everyone around me seems to be ill and I really don't want to catch their bugs right now. Ive come to the conclusion it's not the best time of year to be heavily pregnant!

Let us know if u have any news...

trilottie · 06/02/2017 17:12

@nottalotta what's the news? Think it was d day today wasn't it? Hope you are currently having the vbac you wanted...

Sparrowlegs248 · 06/02/2017 17:17

No bloody news. Phoned in this morning at 8 as advised. Told to call back in an hour. Did so, told they would call me back in an hour. They called at 11.30 and told me to go in at 2. I did. Monitored and told all beds are full so can't do waters yet but I could stay and they'd do it once a space cleared. Sent husband home. Now they're sending me home.

trilottie · 06/02/2017 18:58

Argh! Well at least you're in your own bed tonight and another night to get things started. Fingers crossed for you.

Sparrowlegs248 · 06/02/2017 19:12

Bloody hell. A third sweep and this one meant it!!! Ouch.

MyGreenSofa · 07/02/2017 21:03

Good luck notalotta! Annoying to have to wait around but still better to do it at home than the hospital!

Fabulosososo · 07/02/2017 22:15

I hope they have started things for you now nottalotta Good luck!!

OP posts:
Sparrowlegs248 · 07/02/2017 22:20

Nope. Came back in today, 12.30. Sod all happened. They've kept me in to start early tomorrow. Ffs.

trilottie · 07/02/2017 22:22

Argh! Thinking of you. How annoying. No news here either. I'm beginning to think this is all just a big misunderstanding and I'm actually just a bit tubby.

Fabulosososo · 07/02/2017 22:53

Omg how frustrating Nottalotta I've heard of inductions being slow but 2 days without even starting is pretty impressive. What's the ward your on like? Do u get your own room. They must be pretty confident they will start tomorrow if they've kept u in overnight...fingers crossed for you!

Nothing happening at all here...I think babys secretly planning to stay in there 18 years and pop out ready to leave home and go to university Wink

OP posts:
Sparrowlegs248 · 08/02/2017 06:40

It's really annoying esp as yesterday's Dr starting questioning WHY I was being induced, amongst other things. Bit fucking late for that was my thinking.

Anyway, they were going to get me up at 6 for an early breakfast and crackers on. Waiting........

Ward is OK, quiet bay so got some sleep.

I will apparently get a room. Will keep you posted!

hanflan · 08/02/2017 12:56

Hi all. Can I join? I am 28 weeks with my second baby. First was EMCS after failure to progress. Waters went, meconium, baby distressed, but after hours and hours in labour along with the induction drip to hurry things along I never got past 1cm dilated :(
I've decided to opt for a vbac because I "might as well give it a go", however I'm not hopeful as didn't dilate last time, and hospital only has a 52% success rate (despite them insisting it's over 75% haha). I don't know if I'm bonkers to even try but oh well.

MyGreenSofa · 08/02/2017 18:19

Welcome han! Your birth story sounds very similar to mine, though I did get to 7cm (but it took a long bloody time!) I'll be trying a VBAC too. Getting nervous about it now!

Sparrowlegs248 · 08/02/2017 22:32

Fucking fucking fuck bastards. Still nothing, back at home.

trilottie · 08/02/2017 23:00

Nottalotta Noooo! They really are messing you around :-(
Han- welcome!

Sparrowlegs248 · 09/02/2017 10:44

@trilottie going in today for monitoring. Then phoning in tomorrow at 8 to see if they can fit me in! So frustrating as all along I have been told I can't go overdue, consultant led, high risk, blah blah blah. And now, 40+7 and all of a sudden it's OK.

trilottie · 09/02/2017 11:50

Yes I can see that's annoying @nottalotta! One rule for them and another for us!
Well things have kicked off here my waters broke last night (his due date) and we got to the hospital at about 4:30am. The contractions after being really good and regular then faded away so we've been moved to the ward to wait it out :-(
