just wondered if everyone gets them so badly????? Never had any with DS, mild with DD1 but this time with DD2 they are horrendous. I am in agony and they are worse than early labour contractions. Taken co codamol to take edge off but not helping so much!

I had them bad after my 3rd and 4th. I was shocked at how bad they were.
I took co-codamal too.

Miaou · 06/01/2007 21:49

I had them really bad after dd2 (my second) and was expecting them after ds (third) - but didn't have any at all. I do remember they were really bad after dd2 though - sympathy coming your way!!

Nemo2007 · 06/01/2007 21:50

I had them real bad as well for about 4 days after birth of 3rd dd, not good! Just keep taking the pain killers!

Skyler · 06/01/2007 21:53

Congratulations!
I had shocking afterpains with dd2. I couldn't speak and had to breathe through them. Unbelievable as I didn't notice them with dd1.

bandstand · 06/01/2007 21:53

i had them too after 3rd, when bf. did go though! and meant to make stomach smaller.

Nemo2007 · 06/01/2007 21:54

skyler have been using the breathing things and think DH is shocked as I have a high pain threshhold so told me to check with MN that it was normal..lol

They were very painful after i had dd2 ,i took regular painkillers ,the midwifes said i could take 2 paracetamol and 2 ibuprofen.

tortoise · 06/01/2007 21:55

Oh yeah i remember the pain being much worse during a bf. That as well as sore nipples because she wouldn't stop feeding after being born!

tassis · 06/01/2007 21:59

noone told me how sore these were

i was in agony after dd (my second)

hope they ease soon and congrats on your new daughter

Nemo2007 · 06/01/2007 22:02

thanks all makes me feel better to know its normal..DH was convinced I had something wrong.

Yes and deffo worse when feeding as the feeding stimulates your womb to contract down. Just keep popping the pills, but it won't hurt to mention it to your midwife as well, just to be on the safe side. Everyone forgets to warn people about afterpains I think.

Spidermama · 06/01/2007 22:04

I had them REALLY badly after numbers three and four. It was like labour all over again. I actually took pain killers for them having had nothing at all for the real labour.

hoxtonchick · 06/01/2007 22:05

i had bad ones after my 2nd. have you got any co-codamol to take? that's what they handed out whilst i was still in hospital....

hoxtonchick · 06/01/2007 22:06

durrr, you've already taken co-codamol .

Lol Spidermama, me too. I remember I turned down the paracetamol in the hosp the first time round thinking I won't need that pah! and shortly after I had to buzz the midwives whilst doubled over next to the bed , I think they sort of enjoyed that one...told you so Skyler, tried to warn you lol...

Nemo2007 · 06/01/2007 22:08

sorry for confusion am not BF..have to FF.

Spidermama..thats it exactly..I only took cocodamol in labour this time but that lovely naturally spaced feeling took over..these actually feel worse as am trying to do 'normal' things around them.

Skyler · 06/01/2007 22:10

Sorry, I make assumptions , must stop that. Well in that case it could be worse .

I had awful ones w/DD2.

My midwife had 4 children. She said by the 4th, the afterbirth pains were worse than the labour.

ScoobyDooooo · 06/01/2007 23:19

I had no afterpains with ds but quite bad with dd nt to sure i could handle even worse with a third

Spidermama · 06/01/2007 23:22

My MW lent me a brilliant device. It was a bit like a very small electric blanket made with while fleecy stuff which I could lie over my belly for afterpains. It was great.

hoxtonchick · 07/01/2007 10:27

yes kama, you can take co-codamol whilst breastfeeding.

hope you're feeling better nemo.
