I was told they cant be arsed to come out!!
MW told me when having ds " its a boy, he cant be bothered keeps going to sleep"

beansprout · 30/11/2006 20:28

My brother was 21 days late (they allowed such things back then!) and my son was 16 days late so you may have a point!

lulumama · 30/11/2006 20:28

I think they arrive when they arrive!!!

was induced a week early with my boy & had my daughter on her due date!

i think it depends more on how you carry generally..if you have had two babies at 37 weeks..you might not go to 40 weeks this time...who knows???

especially as you are having niggles!!

erinsmom · 30/11/2006 20:35

just as i thought, perhaps i will sit on the fence with this one,im just sooooooooooooooo fed up now, feel like a walrus

My DS was born 37 and 6. He was keen!

Piffle · 30/11/2006 20:37

in my case it would appear so
ds was 2 wks late
dd 2 wks early

laneydaye · 30/11/2006 20:38

erinsmom i feel like a walrus some days and im not even pregnant!! (Sorry you feel like that though)

erinsmom · 30/11/2006 20:40

oooh maybe soon then ,im so uncomfortable ,i cant tell the difference between false labour and the real thing, because its all painfull,i just dont fancy having to call an ambulance because i leave it too long

Both of mine were 42 weeks - one of each so doesn't apply here.

erinsmom · 30/11/2006 20:42

have you had a show?

if the contractions increasing in intensity, the time between them diminishing and unaccompanied by backache..usually 'it'....were your previous labours quick? plus, if you can distract yourself or sleep through the pain..probably not it!

erinsmom · 30/11/2006 20:48

both labours were 3 hours, last one waters broke two hours in then went from 4 cm to giving birth in 1 hour,so you can see my concern
ive got backache ,braxton hicks tightenings but the pain is reaching the bottom ifukwim.

DS was born at 38+3, DD at 40+4

BettySpaghetti · 30/11/2006 20:54

My DS was born at 39 wks (his sister at 38 wks) and he positively flew out!

erinsmom · 30/11/2006 20:54

i keep telling myself it will all be over soon, once i get the labour pains i will be wishing they hadnt started, but for all of us that have given birth before thankfully the end result outweighs the pain and uncertainty

Boy 39w4d, 48h labour from first contraction
Girl 41w, 27h
Boy 40w6d, 2h

I was having vague sort of contractiony BHs for a few hours every evening for a few days before ds2 was born. One evening they started getting regular when upright but, as you describe, tailing off when resting. I phoned the labour ward for advice: "No dear, you're not in labour, your body's gearing up for it and you'll probably have your baby in the next few days." And 2.5 hours later I was holding my new son .

So, nope, erinsmom, you can predict nothing .

erinsmom · 30/11/2006 21:00

thanks for that PRETTY CANDLES im not sure if i feel better for that lol!!!!

Hey, chiiiiiill . You know that what happens happens. Got your bag ready? Got the list of phone numbers for babysitters? Soon, soon, you'll meet the new love of your life.

erinsmom · 30/11/2006 21:06

dont get me started on babysitters,we moved to mansfield 5 weeks ago my partner will have to wait 2 hours for my mother to arrive from rochdale as she is the nearest person available,i will have to either wait this time whilst swearingand hanging onto the sofa,or call an ambulance.i dont need any more anxiety

lol....don't think it has anything to do with this being a boy....they come when they are ready...all my boys were early!

erinsmom · 30/11/2006 21:08
