Well done Chelle, how was the birth second time round compared to first? Enjoy.

Chelle · 07/05/2002 03:18

We named her Katelyn Rose. From first contraction to delivery was 7.5 hours but things were pretty mild until the last 4 hours. My first labour was under 3 hours but with no break at all between contractions so I guess I'd have to say this one was better, even though it was longer and the baby much bigger!

This labour started spontaneously and I managed without any pain relief (breathing and massage) but it all got a bit too much when I had been fully dilated for nearly two hours (with contractions more intense than I had imagined possible!) but the amniotic sac was in front of the babies head so I did not feel the urge to push! Eventually they broke the waters and our little girl was born about a hour later. She was a bit stuck for a while so I ended up with another episiotomy (fewer stitches than last time though!) but managed to push her out myself with any further intervention.

She is an amazingly settled baby and will sleep for 6-7 hours at a time. Unfortunately this is during the day (when nearly 3 yo ds is NOT sleeping) and she tends to like partying a bit at nights. Early days yet so we'll see how we fare, sleepwise, over the next few weeks!

Thank you all for your congratulations!

oops! Second paragraph, that should be "baby's head", not "babies head"! Pregnancy brain still in control!

Congratulations Chelle! And what a beautiful name! I'm sure she is a beautiful babe to match. Very long too - future model perhaps?! Hope she sorts her days from her nights soon!
