Waters gone! Scared!

Just that really!
Third DC. Waters went 2 hours ago.
Haven't phoned labour ward yet as no pain. Am getting some shooting pains in my back now though and every few minutes feel like I need to poo really badly!

Should I go in now?
So scared! Even though I've done this twice!

Give them a call or go in- it sounds imminent tbh and could be fast!
Good luck, it's so daunting when the waters go, both of my labours started like this.

Mine broke chasing an escaped pet rabbit round the garden. It was a Sunday afternoon and I was roasting a gorgeous rib of beef. OH rang the hospital in a panic and they said to come straight in as I was only 32 weeks. I was cutting off chunks of beef madly because I was starving.
My son is now 19. He didn't even have to go to special care. I remember that beef more than the birth!

Meant to say the actual labour didn't start until the next morning. I could have stayed and eaten all the beef.

Thanks ladies.
Been seen at hospital. Waters definitely gone.
Booked in to be induced tomorrow morning at 7.30 if nothing has happened before then.
Getting irregular pains. Nothing strong.

I'm a nervous wreck though!

Having a boy! So excited to just see him now.

Does anyone know if it's ok to have a bath? I forgot to ask midwife?

I was kept in after my waters broke and they let me have a bath. Just have someone in with you and don't have it too hot. Good luck.

I was told not to have a bath after my waters went as it increased the risk of infection. Good luck!

I decided not to and just had a five minute shower.
Still no contractions :(
Has anyone been induced?
Is it a lot worse than natural labour?

Ooh that was me a few months back. Waters broke Weds night, labour started Thurs eve... Then stopped again. Induced on the Friday. Don't know how it compares to spontaneous labour but it was frigging painful. Take the epidural! Good luck Flowers

I've heard this too! Can I ask for epidural before drip is started? Natural labour was bad enough

The protocol is to offer the epidural at the same time as the syntocin drip, as the contractions it creates are more intense than normal ones. So you should be fine, they'll hook up both together. I said no to the epidural initially and attempted to do it on gas and air. Bad plan! Two hours later I went for the epi and am so glad I did :)

They didn't bloody offer me the epidural with the drip!!! And they didn't give me one when I asked begged for one eitherAngry. If you have to have the drip get the epidural.

That's my entire birth plan for this baby (I'm only 14 weeks); If I need the drip I want an epidural. I'm going to write it in big red letters on every page. Hope all goes well opSmile. I'm getting really impatient and broody now!!

Hmm, maybe it depends on the hospital. Don't panic though OP, they start the drip off slow and gradually crank it up. Ask them for the epi early and you'll be fine.

This was me a week ago. I was 36+4., dc2. They gave me a pessary and I didn't need the drip as contractions started within 1/2 an hour of pessary going in (despite only being 1-2cm and cervix not seeming favourable etc). Ds was born 1 1/2 hours later... Was very quick. No time for any pain relief other than g and a. Was all fine, just a bit if a shock to the system.

I only needed a couple of pessaries when my waters broke and I didn't go into labour - and that was my first. Bet you'll get going soon. Good luck.

My waters broke first with both of mine. I was told that if induction happened, I would be given the option of an epidural at the same time as starting induction.

The very best of luck to you. Don't be scared. You're about to have another tiny baby you lucky thing. It might hurt. That'll pass. The baby will be brilliant. That won't.
