Waters gone! Scared!

Just that really!
Third DC. Waters went 2 hours ago.
Haven't phoned labour ward yet as no pain. Am getting some shooting pains in my back now though and every few minutes feel like I need to poo really badly!

Should I go in now?
So scared! Even though I've done this twice!

You can ask for an epidural to be put in any time before you are dilated to four cms afaik. I highly recommend it. Induction with a drip makes contractions come to a sharper 'spike' and an epidural should be really helpful. With pessaries you don't have the same sharp spike -- it's more like normal labour. If you feel you would like an epidural then shout as loudly as you can and don't take no from anyone. You have rights.

You need to go in as once your waters go there is a higher risk of infection to baby and you as well. The womb without amniotic fluid is not an ideal environment for the baby. Please go in Flowers

Curry for tea!

My waters went at 4am and didn't have any contractions/ tightenings for 8 hours. However, by 12 hours later things progressed very quickly. Good luck.

Bimberley · 18/01/2015 20:33

Thanks for all the stories. Its great to know I can request an epidural with induction.
Showy, what a lovely message, thank you.

No further progress here. So looks like induction in the morning.
Although I am so scared, I'm getting very excited to meet him now.
Will keep you all updated.

Any news Bimberley? I'm interested as my waters went at 3am and I had to come straight in as I'm having a vbac. They won't induce me because of this so hoping things start naturally!

Bimberley · 19/01/2015 14:28

I've been sent home again!
Not enough staff and no beds, and I'm now 35 hours since my waters broke.

I'm so scared something bad will happen.
Have you been admitted newmom?

My baby was born more than 72 hours after my waters broke. Try to relax! Smile

Newmom2b · 19/01/2015 14:43

Yes I'm admitted to antenatal ward, still nothing happening though :-( so frustrating isnt it!

Bimberley · 19/01/2015 15:06

Nolim, thanks! That gives me some reassurance :) I'm getting very impatient. Grin More housework and scrubbing to be done I think to pass some time and hopefully get baby moving in the right direction!

NickyEds · 21/01/2015 10:21

fattymcfatfat · 21/01/2015 21:53

No news yet? Maybe shes so engrossed in new baby she has forgotten about us....

NickyEds · 22/01/2015 10:53

Must be either that or The Longest Labour Ever.

weeblueberry · 22/01/2015 16:28

Nah once you're on the drip it's not long. I was in this exact same situation and once they got me hooked up it was only 4 hours before the bambino showed face.

Looking forward to news OP!!

Blondiemama · 23/01/2015 02:40
