Does sex actually work?

Hello again, just wanted to know people's opinions on if sex actually works to induce labour? Has it worked for anyone cause i'm sick of bouncing on a big ball and eating curries now!! Thinking about trying some nookie tonight no matter how uncomfortable - it's all in aid to meet my little womb monster :)

Only if you are ready, than it can give you this extra nudge towards going to labour. If you are not ready, it won't do anything.

I am not really a fan of induction, whether medical or natural. I think you will have a much easier labour of the baby comes on its own timings.

Didn't work for us when I was 4 days overdue. I tried everything! She eventually came in her own time 11 days after due date.

I'n 4 days overdue, had a sweep on Saturday which caused me to lose my plug .. But nothing else since; fingers crossed sex might give us an extra nudge then!!

No not with either of mine, but a sweep did

I'm convinced that it did for both of mine.

yes! I had curry for lunch, sex mid afternoon, curry for dinner, sex at 11pm, woke up in labour at 4am

No. Neither did ferociously hot curry, walking long distances (ten miles in hilly terrain at 40+5), raspberry leaf tea, blow jobs, living on my birthing ball, acupuncture, or a sweep. My Bishop score never went past 2. He was born by ELCS at 40+15.

Yep, definately with overdue DS. Was comedy sex though, ill never forget it :) worth it just for a laugh

Yes! Sex at 2am, first mild contraction at 4am. Dd was 5 days late.

We did it every night from 38+5. On 39+4 DH read that it needed to be... Ahem doggie style to be most effective, went into labour 18 hours later had DS early on 39+6.

Pg with dc2 now and will follow a similar regime in the hope of success again!

My Bishop Score was 4 on Saturday but i don't understand the gobbeldy gook the midwife has written in my notes! Had sex at 10:30pm last night and so far no changes, think i'm giving up for now - we all know my waters will break when the first mouthful of turkey goes in anyway haha!!

Not for me! I tried it after two of my sweeps and all that came from it was sore boobs from all the motion ( )

Have you tried raspberry leaf tea? Worked for me

I drank 2 litres of asda pressed pineapple juice, (because i dont like eating pineapples, ) last night and low and behold my waters went this morning. ....

It's not the sex that helps, it's the sperm!

And you need a Hell of a lot of it for it to actually work.

Personally I'd just put my feet up and eat some cake

Might have to try raspberry leaf tea and pineapple juice then if they've been successful :) i'm getting some niggles and don't think i'm far off!!

Yes, sex at 10pm, first contrction at 1.30am, no idea if just coincidence. I was 39+1.

Is there a particular raspberry leaf tea? I've bought some twinings raspberry tea but dunno if that's just a flavoured tea bag?

sex just after 9pm, baby born just before 9am following morning. first baby, three days short of my estimation of due date. in labour for just over four hours, had an episiotomy. it was a long time ago, such things were routine.

but I still think it was the Carlsberg special that did it.

For us it worked! Went into labour that day

We had sex for the first time in weeks when I was 6 days overdue. Went into labour about 4 hours later. However at 6 days overdue labour was probably imminent anyway!

It can do if you're ready to go into labour anyway.

Nipple twiddling is a proven one though!

Yes it worked! In fact from about 30 weeks, sex set off Braxton Hicks for me.

Had sex at half ten and waters went at midnight.

Still think it was coincidence though and doesn't actually work
