surgery after 4th degree tear

Hi all
Unfortunately I had a 4th degree tear after giving both to my LO.
Now iv been told I have to have a major operation to repair my sphincter and have a colostomy bag unknown how long for. I'm so nervous about having it and wondered if anyone else has had this operation and how long did you have the bag for??

I saw your post yesterday and my heart really feels for you. I recently had a c section as I had a fissure in my 20s and wanted to protect my behind. I did a lot of research into birth injuries and a fourth degree tear is awful but they should be able to fix it. I can only offer the name of an excellent proctologist - mr roger springall who works at the London clinic in Harley st. You may not be in se or want to go private but he could be an excellent source of advice. He's also v reasonably priced in Harley st terms £170 for a consultant.

I think this is the most recent thread. They are very nice and someone should be able to guide you a little.
