Early first baby?

Hi am 36 weeks today and wondered how many people had an early first baby naturally?

Wondering whether my little one could be making an appearance at Xmas!

My DS was born at 37 weeks Grin

HippyPottyMouth · 09/12/2014 08:34

DD arrived at 36 weeks.

BeginnerSAHM · 09/12/2014 08:38

My first arrived at 38 weeks... Didn't even have a hospital bag packed as was convinced first babies come late (and take ages) - they don't always!

Tiredbadger · 09/12/2014 08:47

My DD arrived at 36 weeks. So yours could be here for Christmas Grin

bakingmad83 · 09/12/2014 13:23

I'm still pregnant, but two friends had theirs at 36 weeks earlier this year and another at 38 weeks.

MissWimpyDimple · 09/12/2014 13:29

Yes naturally and very fast at 35weeks. No warning signs at all. Got home from work. Few hours later had my DD

imyourhuckleberry · 09/12/2014 13:32

I was 10 days early. The midwife at the hospital said I could not be in established labour as it was my first and said it was very unusual for first babies to be early.... 4 hours later my baby was in my arms!

Funkytown · 09/12/2014 14:45

first baby natural 38 weeks and 3 hour labour

BikeRunSki · 09/12/2014 14:47

My first came at 37+ 5

KleineDracheKokosnuss · 09/12/2014 14:50

38 weeks and 6 our labour (from first twinge). So entirely possible, yes :)

Velvetbunny · 09/12/2014 14:53

38+1 & 4.5 hour labour. No signs before waters broke & had first contractions that we're only a few mins apart. Good luck with everything.

Showy · 09/12/2014 14:53

Full term is anywhere between 37 and 42 weeks so theoretically, yes it could happen soon. While stastically, first babies gestate for slightly longer, some will obviously be born sooner. My first came at 38 weeks.

Roxie85 · 09/12/2014 15:29

I was due jan 10th and ended up giving birth at 37+4 after naturally going into labour.
My dd turns 1 on Xmas Eve!

bettybyebye · 09/12/2014 15:37

My DS came at 37+2 - no warning at all before my waters broke...had only just finished work!

RoomForOneMore · 09/12/2014 19:49

My first was born early at 34+5, no warning, waters broke and she was born 12 hours later none the worse for her early entrance. Currently 36 weeks with my second and wondering which side of Christmas they'll show up!

babyfedleaning · 09/12/2014 19:57

39+2. Waters broke whilst I brushed my teeth. DS1 born 18 hours later. Unfortunately DS2 was 5 days overdue and induced!

snozzlemaid · 09/12/2014 20:05

My first was born at 37+3.

cookielove · 09/12/2014 20:08

My baby was born when I was 36 +1 although I went into labour days earlier, just no one at the hospital believed me!

Cupcakes123 · 09/12/2014 20:08

38+5 here, 11 hours from waters breaking to baby in my arms Smile

Cullercoats88 · 09/12/2014 20:20

Oh god this worries me, I'm 32+4 and planning on travelling to see parents this xmas, 4hr drive away from my house. It wouldn't be the end of the world if baby came whilst I was there, but it would be nice if she find hang on until 37weeks!!

minipie · 09/12/2014 20:21

34+0 - waters went then contractions shortly after. No warning. A big shock as I was fully expecting to go overdue!

10% of babies are born

darlingfascistbullyboy · 09/12/2014 20:24

yup dc1 at 36 weeks; totally unexpected.

LittleRedRidingHoodie · 09/12/2014 20:45

I so hope mine comes early. I'm 32 weeks and in flippin agony. You've given me some hope!

Strokethefurrywall · 09/12/2014 20:46

Yep, 37+6 with DS1, 5 hours start to finish, 38+1 with DS2, 8 hours start to finish (waters didn't break until the end)

minipie · 09/12/2014 21:48

You wouldn't Little if you'd looked at the risks of being premature (being even a little bit premature increases the risks of all sorts of short and long term issues). Cross your legs till at least 39 weeks! Sorry you are in pain though.
