Early first baby?

Hi am 36 weeks today and wondered how many people had an early first baby naturally?

Wondering whether my little one could be making an appearance at Xmas!

Possible but unlikely.
5% of babies arrive on their due date.
Of the remaining 95%, 70% arrive after their due date.

I found the figures a few years ago when pregant with my first but can't recall the source.

I thought once the baby reached 38 weeks all was well! I didn't say I wanted a premature baby - just rather 38 weeks than 42.

DD1 arrived at 36 weeks. 6 hours from waters breaking to arrival. Midwife was umming and ahhing about maybe sending me home (30 minutes drive away). It was only that I was bleeding a little that they decided to keep me in.

The suddenness of it all did make me announce, minutes before I had to start pushing, that I had changed my mind and I'd come back and have the baby another day. Grin. The midwife nearly cried laughing at me!

little yep 38 weeks is absolutely fine (though even then, looking round my friends, the overdue/bigger babies seem to be more chilled babies and less prone to reflux etc than the 38 weekers, but that's probably just my perception and certainly the long term stats show no difference at 38 vs 40+).

Sorry to be snappy - I think I was reacting to one or two previous threads I've seen saying "I'm 34 weeks and want this baby to arrive NOW" without really appreciating the risks (one poster I remember wanted advice on getting induced at 35 weeks because she was uncomfortable Hmm)

DD1 was born at 37+1. Then had to wait til 40+2 for DD2!
