Length of childbirth 3rd time round?

So if my first labour was about 17hours from show with quite a long time on epidural which slowed things down, waters had to be broken etc.

And then my second labour was 4 hours from waters breaking to birth

How long will my third labour be?!! Anyone care to share their timings/hazard a guess?

Trying to decide how far is too far to drive to hospital (in time for pain relief!)

Sorry - no advice but I am in same boat so shamelessly marking.

I didn't have pain relief first two times and really want something next time...

Am watching with interest! 8 hours with ds1 and 7 hours with ds2. I'm 26 weeks with ds3!

Probably shorter but it's never a given- there are so many variables. If the baby is optimally positioned you can expect shorter than last time (ie not very long at all!)

I had:
1- waters breaking to birth 42 hours
2- waters breaking to birth 21 hours
3- waters breaking to birth 8 hours
4- waters breaking to birth 90 hours (but peculiar circumstances and crash CS)

I predict 3 hours

1st about 3 days
2nd 12ish hours
3rd 4 hours (5 mins active stage)
4th 4 hours (10 mins active stage)

Third one for me was about 3 hours from onset of vague labour, probably about an hour of active labour, if that. Mind you she'd waited 18 bloody days past my due date to make an appearance.

Mine were all short though, 2hrs 20 mins first time, 4 hrs second time.

No.1 - 18 hours
No. 2 - 1hr 45min
No.3 - 45min

I'm not sure you really wanted to hear that though...

Ooh daddypig (clearly we have similar aged DC1&2)..YES to pain relief, I love it, utterly terrified of not getting there in time!

Well, luckily for me (and her), due to the very peculiar nature of her positioning, I never actually went into labour despite whacking doses of hormones of all kinds. So although it looks bad on paper, it was the least painful and easiest to recover from in many respects all four labours.

I'm in the same boat my first I was induced and I was about 12 hrs start to finish..

No.2. 90 mins start to finish

No.3 is due in 11 days and I'm worried I'm not even gonna get to the hospital in time..

Different father third time around though. A MW told me that can make a difference!! Fingers crossed.

Just had my first MW appointment yesterday and when the where to give birth bit came up mentioned how fast my 2nd labour had been (about 2 hours from first contraction to birth, but from contractions 20 minutes appart suddenly jumped to one on top of another to pushing in about 30 minutes, only just made it to the hospital) she said if I didn't want a planned homebirth to just ring the hospital as early as I wanted to and just tell them I had a very fast labour last time and that I need to be assessed now. She basically told me to ignore anything they say about how frequent contractions are and the like and just tell them I'm going in whether they like it or not! Good advice I thought!

flowery I was told the same after nearly delivering in the car park with DS2. Phoned them from the car on contraction 2 and told them I was on the way, was there within 30 mins of contractions starting, delivered 50 mins after arrival. It was much less stressful to just get there PDQ.

I was:
Number 1: 28 hours from first sign of contractions to birth
Number 2: 35 hours from first sign of contractions to birth
Number 3: 3.5 hours from first sign of contractions to birth

In your case I think I'd be in the car to the hospital at the first twinge! Also if you've got more adept at coping with labour, don't be fobbed off and told you've come to early if you know it's 'it'. The midwife at the homebirth for my 3rd was still telling me I was having 'pre-labour contractions, not proper contractions' and that she might go home and come back later, when I demanded she examine me first. She huffed and dithered and finally agreed, to find me 7cm dilated....

Fast.

And as you're explaining to the midwife that you don't dilate very fast, she will point out that you are actually in transition at that very moment.

perhaps if dickhead ex hadn't insisted on walking the dog before he drove me to hospital I would have been there in time to at least take my bag in with me

DD1 3 days from first twinge

DD2 8 hours

DD3 1 hour 51 mins (but waters broke, with no contractions, and was induced via a drip, was great actually, had an epidural first, and had no pain at all!).

1st about 15 hours
2nd 12 hours
3rd less than an hour start to finish. I think he could have been born sooner but I tried not to push as we were in the car. He was born 5 minutes after we arrived at hospital.

Why don't you just have pain relief at home? win-win!

1st 14 hers from arrival at hospital
2 nd 40 mins from arrival at hospital
3 Rd 10 mins from arrival after being sent home an hour before ?? was starting to push in carpark

Ps, I had no time for anything apart gas and air with 3rd

3-about 8 minutes , luckily i was in hospital because i was overdue and they wanted to start me off but he decided he was coming anyway

oh goodness..ok so general consensus is it is fast! the hospital I was hoping to go to is 45 mins away (at least assuming traffic ok)..hmmmm too risky?!

Waters breaking to birth was about 30 mins, on my notes it has established labour as 8 mins! Thankfully I was already in hosp as I was being induced. Contractions had been building up for about 8 hrs slowly.
