Anyone never had braxton hicks?

Exactly that, second pregnancy, didn't have any with first either... I'm mystified as to what I'm meant to be looking for as to signs

With first pregnancy didn't get any and went straight into full on labour at 41 weeks, now 39 weeks and not had any this time either - anyone else experienced this?

I didn't have any with either of my pgs. Mind you with both when I went into hospital for the birth and they put the monitor on I was apparently having contractions then although I couldn't feel them! Unfortunately this didn't last for long Grin

TeaAndANatter · 18/03/2014 19:35

Didn't in preg 1 or 2. Not a sausage. Have been since quite early in preg 3 though.

holmessweetholmes · 18/03/2014 19:37

I didn't with either of mine.

Oblomov · 18/03/2014 19:41

None with ds1 or ds2.

Flexiblefriend · 18/03/2014 19:44

I never had any. That said I had to be induced and to be honest I suspect DD would still be in there if she hadn't been forced out!

charleyturtle · 18/03/2014 19:54

I didn't have any, a friend of mine told me that everyone had them and that they were really really painful so I would know when I was having them. Because of this silly information I spent a day and a half not realising that was in labour and didn't end up in the hospital until I was 6cm. I will never trust anything that woman says again!

(I do realise that I probably should have read the baby books to find out what it was like to be in labour instead of just assuming it was the same as on the tv)

Catsmamma · 18/03/2014 20:00

i don't think I had any

as upthread....all of mine have had to be evicted so maybe that's "a thing" ???

I did however have a good deal of "fun" with excruciating hip/pelvis/leg pain in the last couple of weeks with ds1. Just as if a knife was trying to joint off my leg at the hip. Caught me unawares couple of times a day and scared dh silly.

Best episode of that was right in the middle of a pedestrian crossing...stepping out to get across and my hip suddenly went and I folded over in a heap. Dh was a wreck! :D

livenlet · 18/03/2014 20:02

At 32weeks with my second baby I thought I was having them not really knowing what they felt like and thinking it must be braxton hicks she she wasnt due for 8 more weeks turns out it wasnt them it was real contractions . I think its a myth

Pinklilies24 · 18/03/2014 20:05

Nothing with mine. The first twinge I had was my first contraction!

mrsbug · 18/03/2014 20:08

I never had them although like a pp when I went into hospital I was told I was having them, even though I couldn't feel them. So maybe some people just don't feel them?

Orangeisthenewbanana · 18/03/2014 20:08

None with DD. Woke in labour and that was the first thing I felt!

JenJoWilson · 18/03/2014 20:09

I haven't with my first two, and not with this one I'm expecting in 9 days either :)

Songbird · 18/03/2014 20:09

Nope, I felt most deprived.

ChaffinchOfDoom · 18/03/2014 20:12

didn't have them with dd or ds2, had them this time though, well, I think they are them... every so often, couple times a day it's like the bottom 1/2 of bump 'clenches' and grips round the baby, it makes his limbs stick out at weird angles, feels all tight. is not painful, yet feels weirdly uncomfy, so I puff breathe through them, last about 45 secs

or, it's just the baby madly stretching out a limb and stretching the whole base of bump; who knows Grin

beela · 19/03/2014 08:34

35 weeks with 2nd pregnancy and I've never had any, although I do get that tight bump feeling as though the baby is trying to stretch out. Maybe that's a BH and I've never realised Confused

iamusuallybeingunreasonable · 19/03/2014 08:38

I need a sign!! I'm two sweeps down and not a jot, seriously would like at least one braxton hick - I feel deprived!!

My midwife told me that the only way you don't have Braxton hicks is if you're not pregnant. I've not felt one yet through!

elQuintoConyo · 19/03/2014 08:51

Not a snifter of a Braxton with my son.
Went in to be induced at 40+12 and they hooked me up to the monitor - there were the contractions already! Must have been stress kicked off labour. Midwife gave me a sweep and it all started- no need for the actual induction process, thank god.

I'm actually glad I didn't experience BH, they sound awful!

Best wishes OP Thanks

SimplySara · 12/04/2014 21:01

Now 40+3 days into 3rd pregnancy and never experienced false labour. So glad. The real labour is enough for me.

RaisinGirls · 13/04/2014 17:22

40+2 here and still waiting for Braxton Hicks. Actually, I am now at the stage were I'd happily skip over them and proceed straight to labour thank-you very much. Really hoping to avoid being induced.

superzero · 13/04/2014 17:29

Had 3 planned sections and never had anything ever that felt like the description of BH

RandomMess · 13/04/2014 17:31

I think possibly with my 4th pregnancy I may have had some BH but with the previous ones never a thing, not a dot.

Was induced all 4 times in the end!

Hope all goes well and your baby is with you soon Smile

SophiePickle · 25/04/2014 23:40

32+1 and I'm pretty sure I've not had them. Also feeling kind of deprived. It's my first baby so I'd like an idea of what to expect!

Although I have felt like baby is doing crazy stretching like others have described. Always just thought the baby is having a swim about.

Oddly enough, last night I dreamed I was having contractions.. Maybe that was one?

AGnu · 25/04/2014 23:55

Not at all with DS1, although the midwife who came to check me after my waters broke with absolutely no warning insisted I was having them because "contractions don't just start at 5 minutes apart, they must be BHs." She was wrong.

With DS2 I was having them from about 18 weeks! I spent almost the entire pregnancy monitoring my sporadic tightenings just in case!

jcharles11 · 30/06/2018 18:25

I think I did it was when I was staying with my boyfriend at he's aunty house one time and the pain came and went and felt one piece of pain then went if I'm not mistaken but part from that i don't no if it was this as I'm hearing now that your belly tightened so I'm currently 30 weeks not sure if I would feel anything just yet or when so yeah '
