I know most peoples go when they are already in labour so probably somewhat prepared, last time mine went in my friends spare bed Blush, completely unexpected. I'm now 37 weeks and feeling a little nervous! Anyone else had their waters go in interesting places?

Antenatal ward for DS1, in our local supermarket (called Tía) in the entrance, hadn't bought anything, DH hadn't even got a shopping basket, for DD, and in hospital for the DTs.

This time (almost 8 weeks ago) was the only time my waters have broken on their own. They broke at 3.30am, 40+2, in my bathroom just after I'd stood up from having a wee!

MasterFlea · 03/03/2014 11:01

Both times, in bed in the middle of the night and with a Pop that made me wake up. I have a bed mat now under the sheet, just in case I go early.
That was the start of labour for me.

weeblueberry · 03/03/2014 16:31

Mine went in the bathroom as I was brushing my teeth. I got really het up because we'd just had new flooring put down the week before and I was screeching at DP to 'quickly clean it up or else the wood will blister!!'.

Then I remembered that was probably a sign I was in labour and the floor wasn't exactly the most important thing on the agenda.

It didn't blister in case you're on the edge of your seat

I wore a tena lady pad from about 36weeks, such was my fear of my waters going, in public. How I laugh (hysterically) now I know that a hundred tena ladies wouldn't have made the slightest difference!

As it happened, mine were broken for me at 40+1 (I had to be induced, due to baby's reduced movements

Waters were my first sign of labour. I worked 10 mins from my mums, & hadn't gone on maternity leave yet. The night I went into labour I decided to stay at mums house. DP & I got into my brothers bed & I thought I'd wet myself a little. Got up and the rest gushed out in my mums wall way lol. (My brother still doesn't no it all started in his bed lol)

VisualiseAHorse · 03/03/2014 23:23

In the hallway on the way to the bathroom - I'd woken at 2am, thinking I'd wet the bed, got up, realised there was more coming, ran/waddled down the hallway and it went WOOOOOSSHH!!

Princessdeb · 03/03/2014 23:30

Mine went at 33weeks in a big gush as I was walking through Liverpool Street Station (London) during rush hour! Fortunately DD was born fine and well 2 days later but that was VERY embarrassing Blush

PastaandCheese · 04/03/2014 09:05

Ha ha millie. I always made sure I had an Always Night with me with my first just in case.

They broke in hospital corridor when I was on way to delivery room. It went everywhere and there was meconium in them so they stank too and it looked like I'd poo'd myself and wet myself. Not sure the Always Night would have stood up to that.

I had to walk the rest of the way with a massive amount of blue roll held between my legs, the smell was radiating from my leggings and my shoes were squelching where they were full of amniotic fluid.

Happy times?!

weeblueberry · 04/03/2014 13:48

Princess did people help/offer to help you? I've always wondered how Londoners react to that sort of thing?

MissBetseyTrotwood · 04/03/2014 15:08

Lots of Londoners would get stuck in and lots would keep walking ime!

I remember a woman who gave birth outside john Lewis in Canary Wharf saying everyone was lovely. They got screens from one of the shops and obv loads of towels and cushions etc from inside the store so she was comfy.

That said, the only place I ever got stick for bf ing in public was Canary Wharf as well!

CuteLittleToes · 04/03/2014 15:56

Mine broke on my due date as I was bouncing on the gym ball at home in front of the telly.

DP asked if it were my waters, and said "I think so" - he didn't believe me at first and thought I was joking :)

minipie · 04/03/2014 16:30

Ooh princess that's the first story I've heard which is similar to mine! (northern line at 33+6). Nobody said anything to me, it was all very British Grin, though to be fair it was mostly hidden by my big black coat.

thenewesthobo · 12/03/2014 19:03

I'm in recovery and my waters broke at a 12 step meeting!

We got up to say the Serenity Prayer and whoosh!!

Baby was born 4 hours later.

Sheissmallandveryspidery · 12/03/2014 19:13

In my birthing pool both times

First time the water had got so cold that the warmth was lush!

Second time I pushed once thought the head was out turned out to me bulging membranes which burst about 5 secs later. Dd2 out about 30 secs laterGrin

mummy1973 · 12/03/2014 19:18

In the garden whilst hanging out the washing.

ilovesmarties · 18/03/2014 12:22

Woke up at midnight with waters breaking in bed at 32 weeks. Baby was born just over an hour later :-)
