Where were you when your labour started?

With my last 3 babies, I went into labour during the night, at home, in bed. I am hoping that the same thing happens this time around.

Was it the same for you?

With my first two I was home, number three was at dd's parents evening...number 4 was at parent in laws wedding anniversary dinner:..I had been looking for a way to get out of it for weeks!!

You have been incredibly lucky!

At home, bouncing on a birthing ball when 1st contraction arrived - ideal, or so I thought, but not so as latent phase lasted for 5 days so I ended up having painful contractions in many places as obviously life goes on, the most embarrassing of which was a busy Sainsburys. Grin

With ds1 I was on the loo Blush (water breaking was first sign of labour)

With ds2 I was at home, about to go to bed when contractions started.

Waters went at home, at night, in bed. Thank god for that strategically placed towel!

MrsDavies · 25/09/2013 19:39

sat on my sofa when I had my first contraction Grin.

Timepasses · 25/09/2013 19:41

In hospital both times Grin

IdaClair · 25/09/2013 19:42

At home (boring) in the afternoon. At home (boring) at night. Both labours ended at home too so I never actually had to leave the house contracting, so boring boring all the way round.

ChoudeBruxelles · 25/09/2013 19:43

In asda when my waters broke and contractions started properly about 2 mins later

rachyconks · 25/09/2013 19:44

Same as a few on here - 3am in bed/in the bathroom. Got up to pee, got back in bed and thought if had an accident. Then thought to myself "but I just wee'd". Went back to bathroom to investigate and had a small gush. An hour later I was in the hospital leaking all over the floor! (29 hours later DD was born). I hope it happens the same way this time. Would be mortified if they broke in Tesco or something!

AnitaManeater · 25/09/2013 19:45

at a soft play centre with DD

Waters went at home just as I was due to go to a out patient Appt as I has high blood pressure and they were worried about PE.

Saw consultant less than half an hour later who was very blasé about it all said to go home and come back in a few hours when labour had kicked in properly Hmm - midwives were running sround looking for a birthing kit at this point as they didn't have one in out patients and I was already getting 3 contractions back to back, then a 30 second breather, then 3 more incredibly intense contractions and so on.

Luckily they ignored the consultant, found a wheelchair, whizzed me up to the delivery ward and ds2 was born 20 mins later - and I was at home less than 4 hours later.

Still makes me Angry when I think of consultant - just another example of his incompetence all the way through. The midwives on the other hand, despite being overworked, were fab!

Contractions started whilst driving my colleagues home from my maternity leaving meal at 11.30pm, waters broke at home at 12-baby born in water in hospital 3 hours later-and about 60 miles driven!!

LouiseD29 · 25/09/2013 22:33

In hospital waiting to go in for a second sweep (was ten days overdue). Contractions were so mild at first I didn't even bother to tell midwife doing the sweep. Went home afterwards, and came back later that evening. Waters didn't break until just before baby was born.

elcranko · 25/09/2013 22:51

In hospital.

CuppaSarah · 26/09/2013 10:59

I was snuggled up in bed at the weekend, first contractions came about the same time the alarm goes of on weekdays. I was not impressed about loosing my 'last ever lay in EVER!!'

midori1999 · 27/09/2013 13:01

I was at a wedding reception with my first. While I was waiting for a taxi to go home and then the hospital everyone kept asking when I was due... Literally any minute... Hmm

I was at home with my second, third and sixth and in hospital with my twin daughters DC 4 and 5) due to complications.

Wickedgirl · 27/09/2013 15:14

I really hope it all happens at home and not on the school run in the playground

In a restaurant. We had to leave quick as contractions started at 2 mins apart and just got quicker! DS born 3 hours later.

PurpleFairy3 · 28/09/2013 16:43

At home in bed at about midnight. The day before I was due to have a sweep!

TheBreastmilksOnMe · 28/09/2013 22:39

DC1 - started gradually at home, long latent phase.
DC2 - started early hours of the morning, about 4am, in bed.

yomellamoHelly · 28/09/2013 22:42

Restaurant, bed, bath. All quick.

Wickedgirl · 29/09/2013 20:21

So my hope of starting again at home isn't too unrealistic then?

Standing on my front doorstep watching the delivery men drive away after delivering the last of our furniture for our new house. I'd been on a blow-up mattress from 32-37w and had been having conniption fits the whole time about our lack of a chest of drawers... DD has impeccable timing at least!
