Little survey to see how long people were waiting on the big day.
Thanks!

My hospital would schedule all elcs for the morning. Cannot remember when ds was born.

paperclipsarebetterthanstaples · 09/08/2013 19:56

Mine was unplanned (went for a scan at 34 weeks and the consultant said 'i want that baby out in the next 30 mins) this was at 1.30 pm. DS was born at 21:21 so way off within the half hour.

The hospital was crazy - usually 1 to 2 sections per day. There was 7 the day i was in. 2 elcs mums were sent home to go back the next day.

VegPatchLurker · 09/08/2013 19:57

Scheduled for 9am.
DTs born at 4.18 and 4.23pm

ScariestFairyByFar · 09/08/2013 20:01

Told to be there for 10 for the last section of the day at 12 dd born 1237.

noblegiraffe · 09/08/2013 20:03

15:30. I was at the hospital at 7am and kept being bumped for emergencies. I wasn't allowed food or drink since midnight and ended up on a drip.

Imnotaslimjim · 09/08/2013 20:05

I was told to attend at 8am, to go to theatre some times after lunch. On arrival they discovered I had a latex allergy (apparently they didn't know) and DD arrived at 9.15am

NeatFreak · 09/08/2013 20:07

Arrived 8am, was second on list but emergency came in and dd arrived 1232

Rootle · 09/08/2013 20:07

Was first on the list. Taken to theatre at 9am, they said baby would be born by 9.30 she was born 9.37. There was a slight delay as epidural took a while to work & the anaesthetist wouldn't let the surgeon start.

Had been told that if there were emergencies I would be put back but luckily that didn't happen.

Chubfuddler · 09/08/2013 20:10

I was there at 7.30am as instructed. Loads of emergencies and not delivered until 5.03pm. The leaflet I had been given said the list closed at 3pm and if I wasn't in theatre by then I would be bumped to the next day. The surgeon was lush (I was massively anxious at the end of the pregnancy I was convinced I was going to have a late still birth, awful to say I know but I was) and he came to see me and promised faithfully that the theatre staff and he would stay for me as late as they had to. They were so lovely to me.

Chubfuddler · 09/08/2013 20:11

I also was put on a drip (at my own request,by 2pm I felt faint and suggested a drip might be a good idea) due to being nil by mouth for so long.

Scarletbanner · 09/08/2013 20:14

Arrived at 7.30, first and only one on list. DD born 9.45am. Busy teaching hospital a couple of days before Christmas.

Whatevertheweather · 09/08/2013 20:20

Arrived at 7am was first on the list but got bumped by an emergency. Taken down about 9.45am and dd born at 10.32. Big sister was in for cuddles just after midday!

hardbeingme · 09/08/2013 20:21

1st one was emcs, was told 3am was going to have cs but had to wait till 8am shift change and 2nd was planned had to be there for 7am to be done before 1pm but they were so busy i didn't get in till 8pm (shift change again)

The other lady who was also supposed to be booked in for the morning was sent home early afternoon and the two for the pm slot were told not to come in. I think I only got mine as they took pity on me - i was carrying twins and absolutely huge but it did mean i couldn't have anything to eat or drink from 6am - just in case - and was sat in the visitors waiting area all day as there was nowhere else.

The worst thing was no one would talk to us and let us know what was going on, it was very frustrating.

DontmindifIdo · 09/08/2013 20:29

11:17. We were the second of the day.

Our hospital will only do 3 a day.

VegPatchLurker · 09/08/2013 20:51

I was nil by mouth from midnight the previous day too. Nearly 17 hrs later boys were born. They (and I) had low blood sugar.

Chubfuddler · 09/08/2013 20:53

There were only three elcs on the list at my hospital too. The maternity suite was so busy they closed it to admissions for three hours at one point and there were loads of EMCS

LifeIsSoDifferent · 09/08/2013 20:55

I had to be there for 7am and was told I would find out what the order was on the day and they normally do 4 in one day but when I got there I was the only ELCS so I had DD at 9:24 Smile

Slavetominidictator · 09/08/2013 21:28

Was asked to arrive at 8am, nil by mouth from midnight the night before. Baby born at 4pm, was put on a drip around 1pm as was meltingly hot day and had massive headache from dehydration. Kept getting bumped down the list for emergencies, which seemed pretty reasonable.
Weren't allowed visitors at all (my parents had come 300 miles to see us) as was in Recovery area till after 10pm. My mother still rages about this whenever dd's birth is mentioned and she's 14 months now....... Obv if had had ELCS in the morning, would have been on postnatal ward by visiting hours of 5-7pm.

mamamidwife · 09/08/2013 21:31

First emergency section,
Second I was in the night before as I was diabetic and on a drip, Dd was born 10:05 on day as planned Smile

Ashinagai · 09/08/2013 21:55

Went in Wednesday night for induction first thing Thursday morning. It became apparent that despite DS being 10 days overdue, induction wouldn't work as his head wasn't engaged. Obstetrician decided c section the best way to go so I fasted from about 9am on Thursday, went to theatre at about 3, DS born 4pmSmile

cathpip · 09/08/2013 21:56

Arrived at hospital 8am, dd delivered at 10.19am

scarecrow22 · 09/08/2013 22:00

ELCS decided on at 6pm on Monday evening (obstetric Coleostasis) and DS "born" 9.26 following morning. Hospital and nursing staff were amazing.

WorrySighWorrySigh · 09/08/2013 22:01

DS was 40 minutes late!

RVPisnomore · 09/08/2013 22:03

Told to arrive at 7.00 and was taken to theatre at 1.00. DS born 2.50 after he got stuck!

OvO · 09/08/2013 22:04

11.10
11.51
18.10

The first two I was first on the list but ended up bumped down it due to emergency sections.
