For fun and wondering reasons really.. How many weeks were you when you went into labour. Were you expecting to come early? Induced? Differ from the other labours you had?

Dd1 40+7 water birth 4hrs 45mins from waters breaking. By far the most normal and great experience for a first baby, I guess that's why we went onto have more.

Dd2 37 at home on toilet floor very quick midwife did arrive in time, just.

Ds1 38 induced (by waters breaking) due to growth decrease and heart rate dips. About 4hrs

Dd3 37 went into labour early with breech baby ended up with a crash Emcs under GA. 1hr 45 from waters breaking. After it all being planned out for birth at 39wks via any means, with a CS being the last result. Best laid plans and all!!!!

Experience all types, the last one hit me for six never experience pain like it, give me natural childbirth any day!!!!!

DD1 induced at 41w
DD2 natural labour at 40+2
DS induced after waters broke at 36+4. Bit of a shock after the other two arrived after their EDD, I was running round the house dripping waters while I tried to put together a hospital bag in the middle of the night (I'd just finished work the day before Ds was born) Handy hint: the maternity ward do actually have everything you might need for an early baby, we even got to borrow a lovely hand knitted hat until DH went home and got the baby clothes out of the loft.

Ds1: 40+10 - not induced - 36 hour labour start to finish. gas and air, pethidine and eventually Angry epidural. Son at weird angle in birth canal caused mahooosive pain. In the end he was an assisted ventouse delivery. Home after 3 days. Weighed 9lbs 1oz.

DS2: 40weeks. Born on due date after being warned I wouldn't be kept waiting this time! 8 hour labour start to finish with just gas and air and pethidine. Literally 2 pushes and he was there. Went home next day :)
Weighed 8lb 5oz.

DS3: 38+6. Very obligingly agreed it best that he not arrive on the day the others broke up for Easter hols and arrived the week before like I begged him to! 11 hour labour start to finish helped along by gas and air and double shot of diamorphine (pethidine is no more apparently!) 11 hour labour start to finish and although not as easy a delivery as DS2 certainly nothing like DS1! Went home next day. Weighed 9lbs 6ozs.

All 3 were born in the same delivery suite in the same hospital. We now jokingly name it "our" suite!!

All finished now. 3 is definitely the magic number for us :)

Induced at 40+1 for high blood pressure. DS born early hours the following day!

Always wondered when I would have naturally gone. Had lost my mucus plug a few days before my induction after a sweep.

With DS, 40 + 11. Waters broke at 40 + 9, but nothing much happened, induction and 21 hours later forceps delivery.

DD, 40 + 11. MW v relaxed about going past due date, but she was on holiday and saw GP instead at 40 + 10 who wouldn't countenance going any longer and booked me in for induction next day. Contractions started as I walked home from the surgery Grin

Was hoping for slightly early, suspected it'd be horribly late. DD was wonderfully punctual and turned up spontaneously on her due date.

  1. 42
  2. 42+5 (longest so far on this thread! It was a long 3 weeks)
  3. 41+5

Managed to avoid being induced with any of them - my weeks of being overdue almost add up to an extra trimester surely?!

37+3 with DS. it lasted 3 hours and gave birth in the bath in a very strange hospital with no pain relief. I was not expecting to go into labour then at all and my mw was sure I was going to be over due.
