Did you get any 'warning' that your waters were going to break?

Am 36wks with dd3 and woke up this morning with a really heavy pressure feeling between my legs. Feels almost like my fanjo is bruised and it feels sore to sit down. Also getting the odd stabbing type pain around my cervix. Could this be any indication that might waters might be bulging?! Do you get any warning??

With dd1 they broke right near the end, dd2 was an emcs so I've no experience of this! I'm booked in for an elcs next week.

I had some heaviness and pains, then went to the toilet and they started to break.

No warning at all for me-- just a total gush at 5am in bed! Was quite comical looking back...

sheeplikessleep · 06/08/2012 20:23

No warning whatsoever, watching tv and then they just went. With ds2, I was in bed when they just went. I could get to the loo in time, just, but I had to run pretty much!

booksandchoc · 06/08/2012 20:23

None at all, just felt a pop then a trickle, ran to the toilet with my hand between my legs. Luckily it wasn't gushing out!!

slothprincess · 06/08/2012 20:25

I was innocently watching masterchef and eating an egg sandwich when mine went. It was quite a surprise!

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 06/08/2012 20:27

DD1 was born in her waters.

DD2 they broke 5:30am when I went for a wee and didn't realise till half hr later my waters had gone too! Blush ended up being induced as didn't labour on my own.

Irishexile · 06/08/2012 20:27

In hindsight, my boobs started to tingle the previous day (let down feeling), then waters went at 5am when I went to the loo.

scrivette · 06/08/2012 20:29

No warning for me, just a 4am gush which woke me up and made me think I had wet myself for a few seconds!

LackingNameChangeInspiration · 06/08/2012 20:30

nope, thought I'ld weed myself a little when I laughed, so went to the loo to sort myself out and WOOOSH (luckily on the loo)

HappyCamel · 06/08/2012 20:33

Yes, sharp pains I'd been contracting for a while and said to DH 'if baby keeps poking around like that might waters will go" and they did about a minute later. I was already in hospital but with no midwife or pain relief because I was "in for monitoring and not really in labour". Dd was born an hour later, the midwife had her back to me putting her gloves on because "I sounded like I was starting to push".

Purplehonesty · 06/08/2012 20:34

I was sore down there and my previous cs scar was burning all day.
They popped as I sat down to eat my dinner at my dinner party. That wasn't embarrassing Blush!

I had a show (mucus plug gunky stuff) when I went to the loo - then 1 hour later felt a bit funny (urgent need to go to loo) went to loo and waters broke - this happened the same way with both my kids...

Whatevertheweather · 06/08/2012 20:39

My prev c-sec scar has been burning today purple! Hmmm so mainly no warning but some with pains. Will have to wait and see I guess,I know it's unlikely as I'm only 36 weeks.

Those who's went on the loo - how do you tell the difference?!

Yummymummyyobe1 · 06/08/2012 20:42

No. I just went to the toilet and then woosh.

PickledMoomin · 06/08/2012 20:45

I think I woke with a slight pain at 5am. Went to the loo and was about to get into bed and felt a POP. Shouted to H to pass me his dressing gown to stand on...

kdiddy · 06/08/2012 20:46

No, none - I was 9cm and in the birth pool having had contractions for 24hr already - just felt a pop

blueberryboybait · 06/08/2012 20:48

DD1 - yes the meanest MW appeared with a hooky thing.

DD2 they never went she was born in her intact sac.

NorbertDentressangle · 06/08/2012 20:48

Nope.

With both DC I woke up in the middle of the night and it seemed that as as soon as I opened my eyes my waters went.

ByTheWay1 · 06/08/2012 20:53

you tell the difference on the loo because it either gushes or just keeps on going..... i.e. you finish your wee but stuff is still coming out...

LackingNameChangeInspiration · 06/08/2012 21:04

"Those who's went on the loo - how do you tell the difference?!"

because your pelvic floor has no control over it, it just comes out, unlike wee which you can start and stop

SarryB · 06/08/2012 23:13

Mine went about 2am. I woke up thinking I'd wet the bed, made my way to the bathroom to get a towel and WOOSH! they all came at once, I ran and sat on the loo and shouted for OH to get up and find me some clean knickers and a pad.

Carried on wooshing for another hour or so when it suddenly stopped. I think that's when the baby 'dropped'.

RichManPoorManBeggarmanThief · 07/08/2012 06:05

I had DD last week and she was only one push away from being "born in the bag" so it's quite possible to be in advanced labour and still have your waters intact.

OhYoshimi · 07/08/2012 06:19

I don't think I had pains til after waters broke with 2nd, then I didn't think it was actual labour cos the pains felt so different than the first time. I do remember feeling some pressure down below for a few days beforehand though.
