Did you get any 'warning' that your waters were going to break?

Am 36wks with dd3 and woke up this morning with a really heavy pressure feeling between my legs. Feels almost like my fanjo is bruised and it feels sore to sit down. Also getting the odd stabbing type pain around my cervix. Could this be any indication that might waters might be bulging?! Do you get any warning??

With dd1 they broke right near the end, dd2 was an emcs so I've no experience of this! I'm booked in for an elcs next week.

I rolled over to go to sleep at 10pm, secretly pleased I had at least another two weeks of blissful maternity leave pre-baby as first baby's never come early, right? Felt a sharp pop and a sting and whoosh it was all over my bed.

DH: "What the fuck is THAT?"

A mere 49 hours and an EMCS later DS rocked up!!

Hind waters broke while I was vomitting my guts up and 7cms dilated! Fore waters popped one push before DD was born, so nope, no warning with either!!

And babies born intact in their sacs are said to be lucky......if fisherman are to be believed Hmm

Both times mine went during labour. With dd1 when I was about 7xm dialated, with dd2 when I was screaming in pain, fully failed and no pain relief...she was born 3 contractions later!

Both times were like tidal waves. The 2nd time pretty soaked the student MW. Nice! Blush

Failed = dialated.

Can tell it wasn't wee as waters don't stop and no control over it whatsoever.

TMI but I'd gone to have a wee and suddenly realised I needed to be sick - my waters went everywhere as I was mid vomit. The inability to stop them coming was what made me realised it was my waters rather than me wetting myself. They continued to leak steadily for the next 28 hours until DS finally arrived!

Whatevertheweather · 07/08/2012 09:41

Hmmm well nothing overnight and the pressure feeling has lessened today so must have been her head!

thekidsarealright -I was similarly caught out by thinking I had 3 weeks to go after stopping work and then my waters went in the middle of the night. DP's reaction was "I'll put the kettle on, do you want a cup of tea?"

elizaregina · 07/08/2012 09:52

yes - dont always expect them to break i had no idea when mine broke - way into established labour!
